Patong Merlin Hotel, Phuket

I dont often write reviews but i read lots , some people are annoyed by the most trivial things like tv service ,size of tvs, internet costs, age of rooms . But before most people go there surely they are advised of the fact it is only three star accomodation . the thing that the patong merlin had going for it is its location 4 great pools ,great staff (including check in girls ) reataurant waitersmanny , danny & sammy 3 great guys and the cleaners lovely peoeple close to everything all of this in my opinion makes it a 5 star on a budget resort

Was absolutely wonderful. Could not find a thing wrong with the service. I would suggest though that perhaps you could sell some kiddie type floats for the pool... Can't wait to come back, and we will. We are grandparents and we took our son, new daughter in law (Thai) and twin granddaughters to visit this wonderful place. They were in awe, as we were also. Very Friendly..

We believe this is one of the best hotels for value for money, lovely staff, great pools, close to everything i.e. markets - right outside, beach - across the road, pubs and clubs - 5 mins away. Not too close to the loud bussle of the main road, so great for kids. We stayed at the Merlin Beach Resort the first time we went (which is out of this world) but for close proximity to everything patong beach has to offer, we couldn't resist travelling back to Patong Merlin for the third time, next holiday. Firstly i would like to thank the fantastic staff at the Patong Merlin Hotel. The service is exceptional and always with a smile! I travelled in a group of nine for a 2 week stay at the PMH, checking in early on a Thursday we were greeted with cold towells and a fruit cocktail whilst awaiting our rooms. Clean, spacious rooms equiped with VERY COLD airconditioner, tv, mini bar, ensuite and balcony. 3 giant pools, 2 restaurants and a bar, internet cafe plus a day spa and gym are only a few of the extras the PMH have to offer. Literally across the road from the Patong Beach which offers a range of fun and leasurable activities including hair brading, temp tattooing and massages to para-sailing and my personal favourite the Jet Skis! Walking distance to plenty of local retail stores including Mr. Noon (the DVD man) and a large shopping Centre with all the basic take-away restaurants, clothing, accessories and souveniers. Not to mention all the great site seeing tours and trips that are on offer all down the beach... i recommend PHE PHE ISLAND, KANOOING IN THE CAVES (great!!) and JAMES BOND ISLAND. The kiddies would love the FANTASY trip - it's like a fair and a circus in one!!! Great history as well... Tuk Tuks (small open taxi's) are a blast but you gotta try the mopeds, those guys are crazy!!! Plenty of bars and clubs with a GREAT night life. I recommend ROCK CITY or THE TIGER BAR for the younger croud and maybe the AUSSIE BAR for the typical and proud aussies (young and old) The hotel was lovely and the pools are always clean, food is just fantastic! The only thing i could possibly list as a MUST IMPROVE for the Patong Merlin Hotel is the check out routine. We had to leave our rooms at 12pm but wait around for our transfers to the airport at 4pm, we were kindly offered a complimentary shower room but the room is stinking hot with only cold showers and NO FAN... we were dripping in sweat the moment we dried ourselves off - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put a fan in that bathroom!!! Otherwise - THAILAND ROCKS!!!

total value for money, the pools were just beautiful the service was great, right across the road from the beach would'nt want to stay anywhere else after staying here, highly recommend

Wow its FANTASTIC .We went in 2006 and now it's 2007 were going bak, the staff are so kind, the rooms are so clean, beds are comfy and that is a must for me!. If you like the night markets this hotel is for you-there right outside the back exit. My mum and dad had been before (im 15) and thought it was my turn to go last year. They have stayed at the patong Merlin twice out of their 3 times to Phuket. We've decided to go back as last time I broke my toe. Every morning after I chose what I wanted to eat (buffet) one of the very very kind staff would bring my breakfast to the table -without even having to ask (as I was limping) it's the best hotel I�ve stayed in better than the Australian ones!! The 3 pools were fantastic too they really cater for all ages from 1 to 100.Theres nothing bad to say about this place it really makes the holiday just that little bit more special

Fantastic hotel planning our 4th trip there. we fell in love with the hotel people beach places on our first trip back in 2002. the way the thai people have re built Patong we didn't think it would be possible to make this fantsic place better, but they proved us wrong. This is a must place to see and Patong Merlin is without a dout the best hotel to stay. Enjoy your holiday.

the rooms where comfortable and the air con worked well. the cleaning staff were very efficient, the breakfast was great, staff in this area are always fantastic. the reception were efficient but a smile would go down well. thats the good things now for the not so good, the pools need better cleaning a green tinge on the tiles does not look good, a swim up bar would be good. and more dek chairs as some ignorant tourists keep towels over nightor go out and leave towels on deck chairs so you cant use them,but they are only minor things

The Patong Merlin is a fantastic hotel that we cannot fault. This will be our third time staying there...just booked for April/May next year and cant wait again. The rooms are fantastic, breakfast is unbelievable and the pools are beautiful. We always stay in building 3, new rooms, safety deposit boxes and great views. We have recommended this hotel to all our friends and they have all loved it. Staff are very friendly and good to have a laugh with.

My family and i have just arrived back from Phuket, and we stayed at the Patong Merlin. Its a great location, close to restaraunts, bars and shopping. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and we are already planning our trip back again (staying here again of course!) THe rooms are cleaned daily and to an excellent, trustworthy standard. Highly reccomemded hotel ************
