Best Place we stayed in Thailand
By Jeff, 12/13/05
Service, Service, Service What a great hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. We stayed for 4 days, the entire time we were in Bangkok. The location of the hotel is great, you can take the water taxi across to the other hotels free of charge. The facilities were modern and rooms were nice. Huge bathrooms with TV above the huge tub--in wall remote so just chill! Food was also very good whether it was native Thai or western style. Has helicopter pad on roof!

we think this hotel is overated
By laichu w, 8/17/05
we stayed there because some travellers guide voted this as one of the best hotels in the world and we wanted to see for ourselves if indeed it is worth the rating. our overall impression is that this hotel has been over-rated. Dislikes From the moment we checked in, we were not impressed with the service because it took them something like 10 minutes to find out we had a booking through the AE centurium card. we checked in on 12th August but the girls thought that we had a booking on 15th. Then on 14th, the hotel thought that we were leaving on 15th August; we told them of the mistake that we were not leaving until 16th. Then, on the next day i.e. 15th August, they made the same mistake again. there were messages left on our telephone asking us of the time when we would be leaving the hotel on 15th. It is too much for a hotel rated as one of the best hotels in the world to be making the same mistakes several times. Then, when we checked out, there were several mistakes in the bill. We seldom checked our bills but because the hotel system of recording our checking in and checking out time did not impress us that we thought we might as well check the bills. We also believe that it costs nothing for the hotel staff to put on a smile on their face. This is something we found lacking in this hotel. The hotel rooms are probably the best part of the hotel as the room is spacious and well equipped. However, the hotel rooms we stayed (a suite and a connecting grande deluxe room) had a funny smell and the choice of the wood colour inside the room is a bit dull. Also, you have to ask the housekeeping for tooth brush, mouth wash and razor as these are not found in the room. It would have been much nicer if these items were there without our asking. It would have been even nicer if the hotel could also provide complimentary bath salt to its guests as a lot of its guests would come here to relax and enjoy a nice bath in their hotel rooms. The water pressure in the room is very impressive as it is very strong but it is a pity that the shower head in the hotel rooms cannot be adjusted. The sound proof system or the toilet system inside our rooms need to be improved as we heard noises when other hotel guests either next door or above us were using their bathroom in the middle of the night. The razors provided by the hotel are not sharp at all. In terms of spa facilities, this is a bit disappointing. Also, what the hotel lacks is a relaxation area for people to rest after their sauna, spa treatment etc. It is also a pity that there is no shaving cream or mouth wash provided at the fitness centre Turning to the breakfast buffet, the best buffet we had is at the JW Marriott Resort in Phuket as it has more choices of smoothies. Likes Lotus Leaf fried rice at the Chinese restaurant is amongst the best we have tried in other places in the world. What we also like about this hotel is that it provides free internet service Finally, the boat service this hotel provides deserves an award as this is probably the best amongst all other hotels on the river bank from what we could observe. It will take you across the river any time you walk down to the pier without having to wait for other hotel guests. It is however a little bit confusing as to the location where we should board the boat when we are coming back to the hotel from the Skytrain station at Saphan Taskin. Sometimes, it was on a covered pier but at other times it was on an uncovered pier.

Stayed at the hotel on October 22nd. I look foward to my return in due course.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/07
Personally, I was impressed with the warmth and friendlyness of the staff. Bellmen and doormen very gracious. Service was second to none. Room very comfortable and well appointed. Nothing to dislike. Wisit was our driver of our limosine from Laem Chabang seaport. He is a true ambassador of the property and Bangkok. WBE

over priced
By Budget Plumbing, 8/17/06
Nice looking and clean place..Service at front desk very un quilified and unfriendly. Imagine these over priced rated and they pay their average worker $5-$7 us dallors a day.No wonder the front desk staff acted so un-friendley..They didnt even know how to process a American express debit card..Also hope no one of importance is checking in or out as you are because your lugange will wait at the curb until their special quest is catered too..Buffet is great also ..Of course it is..might want to ask the cost before you sit an eat..They seem to hide prices..lovely suprises wait you....House keeping is GREAT...

Truly the Best in the World
By M, 3/24/06
I stayed at the Penninsula Bangkok in December 2003 for business. That year it was ranked the best in the world. I agree with that 100%. I do alot of travel for business and will say nothing beats the Peninsula Bangkok. The service was outstanding. The rooms were unbelievable. The food was excellent everyday. The location is also perfect. Take the Peninsula boat across the river. You can hop on the train and go to the night market. The train is safe even for women. The infinity pool is magnificant. They bring you drinks and refill your water nonstop. I fell asleep under the little canapy by the pool and they still brought me fresh water. The view from the room was fascinating. I recommend this hotel to everyone. If you are in Bangkok you must stay at the Peninsula. It is worth the money.

Best views of the river
By Peech, 7/9/06
Unlike most of the other riverside hotels, the Peninsula is on the OTHER side of the river. Adding to the fact that the hotel is designed with a W shape and all the rooms face the river, this gives you great views of the river and of the Bangkok side which is far more interesting. Rooms are very luxurious and service is likewise impeccable befitting a Peninsula. Great breakfast buffet is offered.

Like in a dream
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/07
Peninsula Bangkok has redefined the standards of hotels. This is probably the best hotel in the world, maybe better than the mother property in Hong Kong. All is top. The new Spa is fantastic, food has a top reputation on all the planet, rooms excellent. Top. The cherry on the cake : try the afternoon tea, then you will explain to all hotels GM around the world what is a High Tea. Book and go now, as it is the cheapest palace in the world.
