You can have heaven; I'll take the Peninsula,Bangkok!
By ,
The service, the decor, the food, the sumptuousness of the Peninsula, Bangkok are unparalleled. If I could live here I would do so in a New York minute. I've stayed at The Oriental and some other pretty nice hotels in this world and the Peninsula is out of this world!

True luxury
By ,
Such a nice hotel- I loved everything about it! The huge room with the fabulous views, The furnishings, the TV over the bathtub, the restaurants, the incredible buffet breakfst, the fitness center, the staff, and the fact that I felt I was in a small hotel, despite it being such a big (and fully occupied) hotel. Really a first class hotel!

we think this hotel is overated
By ,
we stayed there because some travellers guide voted this as one of the best hotels in the world and we wanted to see for ourselves if indeed it is worth the rating. our overall impression is that this hotel has been over-rated. Dislikes From the moment we checked in, we were not impressed with the service because it took them something like 10 minutes to find out we had a booking through the AE centurium card. we checked in on 12th August but the girls thought that we had a booking on 15th. Then on 14th, the hotel thought that we were leaving on 15th August; we told them of the mistake that we were not leaving until 16th. Then, on the next day i.e. 15th August, they made the same mistake again. there were messages left on our telephone asking us of the time when we would be leaving the hotel on 15th. It is too much for a hotel rated as one of the best hotels in the world to be making the same mistakes several times. Then, when we checked out, there were several mistakes in the bill. We seldom checked our bills but because the hotel system of recording our checking in and checking out time did not impress us that we thought we might as well check the bills. We also believe that it costs nothing for the hotel staff to put on a smile on their face. This is something we found lacking in this hotel. The hotel rooms are probably the best part of the hotel as the room is spacious and well equipped. However, the hotel rooms we stayed (a suite and a connecting grande deluxe room) had a funny smell and the choice of the wood colour inside the room is a bit dull. Also, you have to ask the housekeeping for tooth brush, mouth wash and razor as these are not found in the room. It would have been much nicer if these items were there without our asking. It would have been even nicer if the hotel could also provide complimentary bath salt to its guests as a lot of its guests would come here to relax and enjoy a nice bath in their hotel rooms. The water pressure in the room is very impressive as it is very strong but it is a pity that the shower head in the hotel rooms cannot be adjusted. The sound proof system or the toilet system inside our rooms need to be improved as we heard noises when other hotel guests either next door or above us were using their bathroom in the middle of the night. The razors provided by the hotel are not sharp at all. In terms of spa facilities, this is a bit disappointing. Also, what the hotel lacks is a relaxation area for people to rest after their sauna, spa treatment etc. It is also a pity that there is no shaving cream or mouth wash provided at the fitness centre Turning to the breakfast buffet, the best buffet we had is at the JW Marriott Resort in Phuket as it has more choices of smoothies. Likes Lotus Leaf fried rice at the Chinese restaurant is amongst the best we have tried in other places in the world. What we also like about this hotel is that it provides free internet service Finally, the boat service this hotel provides deserves an award as this is probably the best amongst all other hotels on the river bank from what we could observe. It will take you across the river any time you walk down to the pier without having to wait for other hotel guests. It is however a little bit confusing as to the location where we should board the boat when we are coming back to the hotel from the Skytrain station at Saphan Taskin. Sometimes, it was on a covered pier but at other times it was on an uncovered pier.

The Best
By ,
This is arguably on of the best hotels in the world, and was rated as such in 2003, just a few years after opening. I have stayed here many times for varying length. One thing which I find amazing is that the staff will remember your preferences, like the concierge remembers which is my favourite restaurant in Bangkok! The staff are great friendly and helpful, there are all the facilities you could think of, some suites even have private outdoor Jacuzzis. There is no way you will be disappointed with this hotel, almost as good as it counterpart in Hong Kong!

A Paradise across the city
By ,
What an amazing hotel. What is so great about this hotel is it that it is so close to the city (with easy access via the hotels boat across the river) without being in the middle of the city chaos. You will not be disappointed, as it is often rated the #1 hotel in the world.

This is what you call A HOLIDAY
By ,
me and my mom spend four nights at the peninsula in 2004. What i like the most is the view from our room right to the chao phraya river, feels like an our own river. beautiful room, pool, garden and really nice hotel. Big bath room, delicious food, very nice services... and it's close to the skytrain station which can lead you to most of the crowds anywhere in the city. you just ride the boat provided by the hotel (for free) to the nearest skytrain station, it really gives you convenience to get around the city.

A wonderful retreat after a long plane ride
By ,
This hotel was paradise. It was more than I had ever hoped for. A friend had suggested to treat myself after the long plane ride from New York before hitting the hostels. Well my friend and I ended up staying 3 nights. The staff was the friendliest staff I have ever seen at a hotel. Food was excellent, there was a gym on premise and the pool was gorgeous. Of course for the US dollar at the time we were getting ***** accomodations for reasonable costs. Location was great as the hotel provides a free shuttle across the river. Great views and bird eye view of Bangkok. Close to tourist locations and a great start to the trip should be a boat ride on the river and you can start just outside the hotel at the dock!

We stayed here one night and got to experience all of Bangkok. I woke up to the sunrise over the Bangkok skyline. First class hotel, staff, and food.
