Narai Hotel, Bang rak Khwaeng

The Narai Hotel is an excellent choice for staying in BKK. Location is superb, within a short walk from major shopping & entertainment, restaurants, other major hotels, even the Calif. fitness center (to recover from the previous night's activities...). Breakfast buffet has it all and is included in room price. Regular rooms are adequate, but the newly renovated ( I think the 9th floor - one of the upper floors anyway) are well appointed and have plenty for approx. US$80. Staff in hotel and taxis are efficient. Big plus: next door is Triple Two (222) Silom, wonderful outdoor and indoor dining/bar. It's like part of the Narai... Try their Salmon Teriyaki and wasabi mashed potatoes... Sit outdoor at the bar, sip a cool one, and watch the world go by. I'll be there next year.

My wife and I have stayed there many times we are into double figures and have always found the hotel staff very friendly. The breakfast is huge .There are many restaurants around Silom rd that the hotel is close to catering to all tastes.The Narai is central to good shopping , up and down Silom rd and not far from the sky train which gets you to all places that you could want . Their taxi service is very handy if needed. All in all a great Hotel and location John and Lu Bull

HAve stayed here twice, (in 2005 & 2006). Its best to get a room above the 9th floor, as I found that the one I was to have once (on the 4th floor), the carpet had cig burns, smelt like cigs, and the bathroom looked like it was being fixed, but they had left it mid job. Told the front desk who more than happy to put me on the 11th floor. Rooms are nice though, great views of BKK. I've stayed on the 11th & 9th floor. Service is great by staff. Security good. Taxi drivers out front are a pain in the backside though! Patpong is 20 min walk, BTS is 15. Lots of shops and stalls in SIlom. I miss the vendors though who used to spread up and down Silom Rd in the morn, but the gov made them move on. I have only eaten at there resturants one, (the pasta place). Was ok, but prefer to eat out. Breakfast is huge! The motel is good value for money at roughly $70 AUD. Dan

Nearest BTS is Chong Nongsi about 10-15 mins walk from the hotel. Quiet and rather dark if you return to hotel late, not very advisable for ladies travelling solo. Service was ok but got to be very careful with your belongings make sure you locked them before you leave the room.

I had previously avoided Bangkok like the plague. When forced to stay overnight due to a flight schedule change, I reluctantly stayed at the nearest hotel to the airlines head office (across the street from Korean Air). Out of a two week stay in Thailand, the 24 hours based at the Narai Hotel on Silom Road doubled the entries in my trip journal. Although my backpack seemed conspicuously out of place among the rows of Gucci luggage, I was received as graciously as the international businessman who checked in a moment before. The nearby cafes and shops filled with a truly ecclectic mix of folks made the stay most memorable. Thanks, I'll see you next January.

If you want to stay along Silom Road you may want to consider the Narai. The small rooms are tastefully decorated, and the buffet breakfast was excellent. The rooftop pool is very nice. The lobby bar is not exactly the hottest spot in Bangkok, but you're a short walk to Patpong. Additionally, the hotel is along the Silom line of the BTS. I found it to be a bit pricey for Bangkok, but all in all not a bad choice.
