Life in a Guilded Birdcage

While I wouldn't describe it as the Venetian in Las Vegas(!!??), this is a very fine and well run hotel. The service is attentive, but not stuffy. Many employees were very friendly and eager to please. Cafe Cha had a decadent and wonderful food presention. The bar had a wonderful Chinese "new age" group playing when I was there. The downside is an isolated location...not near any sites, subway or any street life. There is absolutely nowhere to walk around. Closer to the Summer Palace, but that's about it. I stayed at the Palace, which has a great location, but the service and rooms are better here.
