Reliable Choice

I stayed at the King Solomon hotel in January 2008. Overall, I was quite satisfied with what it offered. Considering the location (the Old City is a short walk away), this hotel is a good pick. The rooms were small, but seemingly well maintained and clean (the in-room safe, however, did not work). The front desk staff were helpful, and they responded quickly to needs and issues.
I would especially recommend this hotel for religious Jewish families, as management makes special arrangements for Shabbos and Yom Tov (including a place for candle lighting and Havdalah, as well as two Shabbat meals). Non-Jews or non-religious Jews *might* feel slightly out of place on a Friday night/Saturday with all of the religiously-oriented ambience (including two Shabbat elevators).
The cost was quite competitive and impressive for the location. All in all, I'm glad I picked this hotel and fully intend to stay there during future visits to Israel.
