Mena House Oberoi Cairo, Al Haram

On our visit to Egypt our first stop was the Mena House . When we drove up the huge drive the first thing we saw was this beautiful hotel which stood before us in all its glory. It was absolutely beautiful. From the moment we entered the hotel we were greated with such hospitality. All of the people who worked there made us feel so special. They were so kind, and we were treated with such hospitality. The views were sensational especially the one facing the Great Pyramid in all of its glory. When you looked out and saw this wonderful piece of history and architecture it took your breath away. No matter where you were in the hotel there was history all around you inclusive of the hotel itself which has its own history. Immediately you became a big part of the Egypt experience. I would love to return to Egypt again and stay at the Mena House. We had a great time there and would highly recommend it to anyone.

The place was awesome. The only thing that wasn't so great was the cleanliness. but that was just my room. I had a friend who was there too and she had a great room.

Everything about the Mena House was perfect. We loved our room overlooking the new pool and the food at the hotel was great. My daughter loved that they had cookies at the breakfast buffet!!! Our room was located in the new section of the hotel and it was a very serene and beautiful room. Love, love, love the Mena House in Cairo. I'm looking forward to returning some day.

A little disney world like, lots of activities going on around the grounds and different nationalities staying in the hotel. But you are very safe from outsiders when on the grounds. But it is a whole different world outside the grounds where the taxis, guides and vendors offer their services. The staff and tourist police don,t like you straying to far from the hotel unless guided. The hotel is beautiful especially the old part lots of history and th e service is great. The new part was very clean and service daily was everything you could want. I was there during the winter months the can of raid that is the bathroom was not needed. But they say summer the flies can be bad thats why they have it there. You have to get a room with a few of the pyramids thats what it's all about and spent an extra night to enjoy it. The rooms with a few are quieter and off the road side of the hotel. they were doing a little constuction to the grounds would n't mind seeing it finshed one day. Had a wonderful, relaxing stay can't wait to return on day. Thanks Mena House

MENA HOUSE WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! WE HAD AN AWESOME VIEW OF THE PYRAMIDS FROM OUR ROOM. IT WAS SO SURREAL TO WAKE UP AND LOOK OUT THE WINDOW AND SAY, "OH, THERE ARE THE PYRAMIDS!" SERVICE AND FOOD WAS EXCELLENT. WE ENJOYED EVERY MOMENT THERE.

We had to make our own arrangements to arrive in Cairo to meet our OAT group. That is an experience in itself. After a long, expensive cab ride we arrived. The desk staff was very friendly, knew we were expected and showed us to our room promptly. It was in the newer section, no pyramid view. Did I mention that our luggage did not arrive with us. Problems began when I tried to contact our tour guide. The phone operator would not connect me with her room, the front desk acted as tho' she didn't exist. It took us 3 hours to find her and then only because the manager of one of the restaurants made a few inquiries and we finally met our group. We were there Dec. 7-8 and all of our group complained about how cold the rooms were. Would I stay there again. Probably, but only if I had a different room.

Don't understand where all the poor reviews come from. We just returned from Egypt and had a grand time at the Mena House. It's palatial, it was very clean, the garden and pool are huge and verdant, service was outstanding, friendly and unobtrusive. The bed and furnishings were so cozy, we regretted having to go out sightseeing. The hotel has maintained the comforts that British travellers of another era expected. The bathroom was a mavel, Towels and bathrobes were fluffy and clean. And yes, there was bug spray, but we thought that cute and practical. This is the South, folks. If you get a chance to stay there, cheek by jowl with the Pyramids, count yourself lucky.
