Horrible place to stay
We stayed here with a tour group of 134, most of them kids. The vast majority of the rooms are awful. Dirty carpets, toilets that don't flush, rooms that smell like smoke, etc. The water is either a dull yellow or a dark brown, and often smells like sewage. Many rooms have buckets under the sink for the leaky faucets. A few of the rooms built after the Soviet era are quite nice, but getting one of these seems to be based entirely on luck.
Service is nonexistent. One couple agreed to pay an extra $75 for a room with a working toilet. The contract had been signed, credit card charged, but when they went to pick up the key they demanded ANOTHER $75. Try asking for an extra towel and you get: "No. Only One Towel a day. In Morning". The hotel will also not take messages, so unless you are in your room, you won't even know if someone tried to call. Don't be surprised if the currency exchange service refuses to change your money, either.
Be careful of the breakfasts here, as most of the dairy products seemed to be well beyond their shelf life. For example, curdled milk, yogurt that expired 3 months earlier, and green eggs.
There really isn't any reason to stay here. It may be cheap, but it's not worth it. Bad location, Bad service, bad hotel.
