Crowne Plaza Zurich, Zurich

Ok, for this one we redeemed our priority club points for two rooms. We got a free upgrade to one executive room but remained with a standard room for the other. Considering that it normally costs $144 for the standard room I stayed in is appalling. The "standard" room is the smallest hotel room I've ever seen in my life. And mind you, I have stayed in many budget hotels and hostels before and the only thing which was smaller than this room was a tent in a camping place I stayed in Venice. Secondly, it's supposedly in the "trendy west-side of Zurich" which is code for "far from city centre". We had to cough out 30+ CHF just from the Zurich Hauptbahnhof. I felt that the service was bad because we had booked our rooms some time back and yet we got the rooms in two separate blocks and didn't get any kind of complimentary shuttle service. The ride from the hotel to the airport with the "hotel shuttle" costs you 40 CHF. And there is no complimentary breakfast. It costs 35 CHF per person. Absolutely ridiculous to think that it costs $144 just to stay in one miserably tiny room with hardly any leg room for just one night. Service is absolutely sub-standard when compated to intercontinental hotels in Asia who really go out of the way to cater to your needs.

I liked this hotel. The staff were extremely extremely nice. Very helpful and willing to drop what they were doing to answer our questions. Didnt eat in the restaurant but it looked kind of generic hotel restaurant looking. The fitness center gets an A-; it has everything: pool, sauna, hot tub, jacuzzi, steam room, weights, bike, treadmill etc. I would have given an A+ if the weights selection was better but heck it was better than a lot of gyms I've seen. Hotel bar was kind of ,,, well... like a hotel bar. There was the lounge singer and pianist but kinda dull overall. The neighborhood is a little out of the way from the main city but nothing that a 10 minute tram ride didnt solve. The neighborhood looks like it's not the trendiest but we felt very safe walking back to our room even at 2 am at night. I would stay here again but would first see if I can get a room closer to the Bahnofstrasse where all the nice restaurants and shops are if I didnt have to pay much more than what we paid here.

I cannot say enough about how pleased we were with this hotel. Great price and all the things the we wanted. There was a pool and breakfast, parking was a bit much, but everything with this holet was wonderful. I really enjoyed it! I would definatly stay here again!!

Right on the tram line. Shuttle available to and from the airport. Restaurant very good but expensive. Service is excellent.

This is the second time I have stayed here. The only complaint that I would have is that the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbor coming and going. It is located about 5min by train to the city center. There are some great places to eat withing walking distance. If you go try the Greek restaurant that is about a 2 minute walk. Great food (probably the best I had in Europe) and cheap!
