The sort of place students or tour groups use...
This is the sort of place students or tour groups book.
On the plus side, our room was clean and relatively roomy. Breakfasts were delicious and the restaurant staff was gracious and efficient.
The hotel supposedly has wireless internet, but desk staff was unable to tell me how it worked (and I was unsuccessful at getting it to engage). They do have a kiosk-type internet computer in the lobby. These are common in Switzerland. Be aware that these use a German-language keyboard, quite different from those of the US or UK. Using one (as the clock is ticking away the minutes you've paid for) is frustrating... If you have a laptop or PDA, the train station has wireless.
I have stayed in Lucerne twice before. It is a glorious city in a glorious country. There are better hotels in better locations. Unless you are on a very strict budget, you should consider spending a bit more to stay in a more picturesque part of Lucerne (or closer to the train station, if convenience is your priority).
