Can't wait to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/9/10
Excellent service! Ten stars! All employees including Alfonso in the reception desk were extremely courteous and helpful. When you get to Barajas (Madrid's ariport) call the hotel from a pay phone and they will send the Shuttle to pick you up for 6 euros per person. The Shuttle driver is very courteous. Take advantage of the breakfast buffett is only 9 euros. The selections are excellent. You can filll up enough to wait until dinner time although you might purchase a snack in between. The rooms and hotel are very clean and beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are very nice and large. The location of the hotel is extremely close to all important tourist points. Madrid is pretty flat city so you can walk everywhere . Taxis are plentiful but by walking you get the flavor of the city and their people. 2 minutes from the hotel you can purchase the hop-on tourist bus ticket at the magazine stand and the bus stops right after the stand. The 2-day ticket is best value because you can hop on and off at their stops and cost is reasonable. If you are a senior citizens (65) they will sell you a discounted ticket. If you need to travel to other parts of Spain while in Madrid, do so in the Alsa buses (Greyhound type). Their Supra plus service is the best and seniors get a steep discount and is better and safer than renting cars. The Supra plus service offers food and plays movies during the trip. We took a taxi and went to their station to purchase our tickets. The Corte Ingles (a Macy's like store) is across from the hotel and has a grocery store in their basement where you can purchase ready made meals or sandwiches. For restaurants, try those on the small streets off the Gran Via, they have great food and prices. Bring comfortable walking shoes and camera. Bring an electricity converter from the US, the hotel will provide you with the adaptor if you need it. To get best price and selection in tourist sourvenirs go to the stores closer to Plaza Mayor where you can compare prices. Women must avoid purses. Put valuables inside you vest or coast to avoid pick-pockets although we did not have any problems, we put our money in our coats. If you are carrying your credit cards, make a copy of they cards you will be bringing in the US. You can keep the copy in you room safe just in case. Same with US passports. When you make large purchases they will ask you for you passport number. You can later get reimbursed at the airport for taxes. If you purchase a lot of stuff at the Cortes Ingles, You can take all your receipts to the Corte Ingles Customer Service counter and get the IVA (taxes) reimbursed. Best place to eat suckling pig (cochinillo) are these famours restaurants - Las Cuevas de Luis Candelas or el Botin, both are located right in Plaza Mayor. Check their schedules before going there as they close for siesta. Bundle up if you are going in December. We were there for New Year and it was spectacular. The entire city is decorated so beautiful and don't miss the 3 kings parade January 6th (better than Macy's parade!) But most important stay at the Best Western Hotel Atlantico - they will treat you royally!

Great hotel, great location
By Dana Fortini, 7/23/09
Located on the bustling Gran Via, I was very impressed with the Hotel Atlantico. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, from the moment we checked in, until the moment we needed a taxi to get us to the airport. The location was good in that we were very close to many restaurants, shops, sightseeing stops, and close to public transportation. The room was relatively spacious and clean. There is in-room wireless internet, but you must pay for it. Same goes for the breakfast buffet at the hotel. There were not many options for breakfast, but it was alright for the money. I was disappointed that there was no fitness center, however. The next time I am in Madrid, I would look into booking here as it was a good value for the money.

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights in the hotel. We got a fine room in the rear part but quite dark and therefore we moved to the front part. This is a fine hotel, very well located. The service was excellent.Great value for the price we payed.

Great find!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/9/07
My husband and I stayed at the Atlantico for 4 nigths last November. The experience was excellent. The staff was extremely friendly, breakfast choice was great, but the best part was the room. The room was brand new, very spacious and the bathroom was huge. The hotel is centrally located to everything. You will not regret staying at the Atlantico...we would definitely go back.

Best \"home\" in Madrid
By Gerald Sarroca, 9/28/07
The place was perfect! Saludo to it's service staff. My friends and I reserved this hotel before prior to our departure date so we can unwind and relax after a long Spain trip; we were not disappointed. The 9th floor had a breathtaking and awe inspiring view of the city,

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/15/07
I loved the decor, the cleaniness, friendly staff, location, great choice of breakfast and of course the price. It was brilliant value for money. I loved everything about it. My husband and I stayed for five nights and we were very sorry to leave. We will definitely recommend it to all our friends and we will be back.

Great service, great value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/07
We had a great experience at the Atlantico. I was particularly impressed with the friendly, helpful staff , who went out of their way to help us solve problems and feel at home. Location is on the busy Gran Via, which is a little hectic but conveninet to the sights. We really got a lot of value for the reasonable price of this hotel

Would go back in a heartbeat!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/2/07
Just got back from vacationing in Spain and really lucked out with this hotel. The rooms were beautifully decorated and had plenty of bathroom space and amenities. The hallways on each floor were also tastefully decorated. The location was great. We had a room on the 2nd floor with windows facing the Gran Via. Had no problem with street noise. Beds were roomy and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was not included, but was available for 8 euros a day per person. Staff was friendly and helpful. They also spoke English very well. Visit the 9th floor, it is beautiful. It has a bar and sitting areas and it also has a terrace on the roof. Amazing! We would defitnitely go back if ever in Madrid. Not only is the hotel great, but the price is even better.

Would go again
By JANE, 1/2/07
Very central, all amenities and services were of good quality, and the staff were helpful and courteous. Room was small and had no windows but was not my reason for being in Madrid so it really did not matter. I could walk from the hotel to most of the places in Madrid I wanted to see, there were excellent restaurants close by, it felt safe and welcoming to be in the city, I had a great time and was very favourably impressed.
