Fabulous room, great location.
We happened to be in Maine during the time of the Maine Lobster Festival, the state fair, a monster truck show, and while a couple high school groups were traveling. What this meant was that from Damariscotta (when we started looking) to Bar Harbor (and even to Bangor), there were no rooms to be found. We stopped at half a dozen places and called another 20 or more. I called The Quimby House at 10:20pm. Their office closes at 10pm, but they answered...and they had one room left that they were nice enough to rent us so late even though we were still about 20 minutes out. Our rate was $150, which was not even the max price listed in my AAA book. Although it was more than we had planned to pay for a room that night, we were more than happy to do so at that point. They could have easily charged us a lot more with the demand, but they charged us the normal August rate. The room we stayed in was beautiful. It was a large room on the bottom floor of the inn, with huge windows across the front, a fireplace, large sitting area, TV cabinet, mini refrigerator, writing desk, and a nice bathroom. The people were very nice as well. When I go back to Bar Harbor, I will most likely stay there again.
