This one deserves a second chance
By truckin66, 6/7/12
I'd like to validate the comments about the motel's new management. We are currently staying here for a week due to my husband's job. The motel is NOT a Hampton Inn...it's a small town motel that is going through a major facelift. Our room is dated but we LOVE the mom/pop motels so we don't mind. Our room is clean, it's air conditioned. Our towels are amazingly soft, the TV is brand new and my 6'4" husband doesn't have to squat while showering like he does in most chain hotels. The staff is great and we have no complaints. And the work that is going into the refurbishments is amazing. I walked by one of the remodeled rooms the other day and to be honest, it was beautiful. It's a total remodel. Not just a few coats of paint, some caulk and a new TV. They are doing a floor up remodel of each room. This motel also has a high volume of oil field industry regular guests and many motels would not bother to update and renovate their rooms. Most businesses not just motels know they'll get their money from the oil companies no matter how bad the rooms, the food, the service, etc. So, to see the owners of the Bass Motel spending time and money to update their motel is very nice. I hope to visit again to see the results of the remodel. By the way, there's a unique little restaurant next door and Choke Canyon State Park just minutes down the road.

Under new ownership/management
By dk, 3/26/12
Things have improved since new ownership/management. We are cleaning the place up. We have 5 newly remodeled (from ground up) rooms and soon to have 3 more ready. We still have some of the older rooms, but are working on cleaning them up. We have new sheets/towels/pillowcases, no more of the stained ones. We are doing our best to make everyones stay better than it used to be. We will keep working on the remodeling until we have all brand new rooms for your convience. Also, we will be changing the name to COUNTRYSIDE INN, but will keep the same phone number. We are trying to make your stay better than before.

Upset
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/17/11
I was reluctant to get the last room in 50 miles of Three Rivers and it was unfortunately here. The lady at the front desk is wonderful, but this place is horrendous. I work in the oilfield and would not recommend this place to anyone. First off, my room was damp and moldy, no lights worked except the closet and bathroom area, I didn't want to walk on the carpet with my bare feet, and I wrapped my pillow in extra t-shirts because the pillows looked like they were 10 yrs old, and my mattress looked like about 20 yrs old. I'm not one to bash a place and give benefit of the doubt on most everything, but it looked like this place is owned by some slumlord who is still in business due to the oil and gas boom. I wrote this article because not only am I upset with the conditions, but I was itching all over my back the next two days at work. I got home this evening and see a small oval rash on my back and will be making a trip to the dermotologist tomorrow. I would post a pic if i could. The place looks like they are about to remodel, but I doubt they will change much. I hate bashing a business, but this was one stay I wish I never made. Good luck

Yuck!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/25/11
My husband was sent there on a job. He and his co-workers founed rat droppings on the floor, in several of thier rooms....Gross. Cleanliness leaves much to be desired. They are currently looking for lodging elsewhere.

We will book again..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/11/10
I booked a room for one week while our guys are down there working a pipeline. I called my lead guy this morning to make sure the room was ok - and he said it's "great!". Keep in mind these are oilfield men, but they NEVER hesitate to tell me their accommodations are less than desirable. We will book here again. They especially like they view of the lake. Gives it more of a "we're on vacation" feel rather than "we are at work".

it is what it is
By Jak, 6/25/10
A very nice lady runs this place it is as clean as you can get for a very out dated motel. I didn't like my room because it had bugs. This location is in the country off 72 west outside three rivers so your in the country. Nature found its way into the room. This area is very busy and I was lucky to get a room anywhere. This is a perfect place for fishermen because they do have an outlet to charge your batery at every parking slot. If you need internet this is not the place for you. I don't smoke but my room still had the smell of smoke from other people. You will not meet a nicer manager or more helpful person. Will I ever stay again I'm not sure because I don't like bugs even the freindly dragon fly that was in my room. I do recommend this place for fishermen. The other good thing is the room only cost 50 bucks a night. So it really is what it is, a 2 star hotel in a 4 star location. You can see the lake across the street in the morning. For location this place is a 4 and much better then what you can get in Three Rivers.

Bass Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/27/09
Its a dump! Don't stay here ever. The pool looked like its been closed for 10 years....it was empty! My room was nasty. There were electire wires sticking out of the walls. Nolan Ryan needs to buy this back and start over! Many years ago, it was a very nice place to day. Its a dump!

can't make a reservation, now I wouldn't
By Gerald, 1/1/09
Called to get a reservation. Thought it strange to hear an ansering machine. I Asked for a reservation and gave my cell phone number. After 24 hours wait, I reserved a room at a motel down the street. They need to close the place or run it like a bussiness. I will never call there again.

Update
By Steve Herries, 6/17/08
I found a review that I did for the Bass Inn in 2004 and realized that it is badly out of date. Since that review was posted, I have stayed at Bass Inn an number of times, but I will not stay there again. During my last stay, there was no COLD water in the rooms. Yes, you read that right. No cold water. While that might be okay during the winter, when I get off of the water after a day of fishing in 100 degree weather, the last thing I want is a scalding hot shower. My last review also stated that the Bass Inn was the closest lodging to the boat ramps, and that is no longer true. Choke Canyon Lodge has opened and while over-priced for the area, it is VERY nice. I have been told be friends that they have checked into rooms here to find that not only had the sheets not been changed, the beds hadn't been made. Short version is this...I will not spend my money at the Bass Inn. If they offered me the room for free, it would be over-priced.
