Barron Motel & RV Campground, Barron

I would recommend you read the link provided before you stay here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workplace_violence We witnessed the owner attack an older couple across the street visiting a yard sale. Banging on their car until another shopper came to their rescue. Later the owner took after a second car at the yard sale with a garden hose. We awoke to a lot of yelling between two men. We went to the yard sale later in the day and she was prepared to call police. On another day the owner attacked a guest visitor for parking in the wrong place. We left due to concerns for our safety and promise not to return. The owners wife defends her husbands words and actions and proved to be no better. NOT a peaceful stay! We were concerned about being outdoors or even on the property.

The owners are very helpful and friendly. Though very close to Hwy 8, the rooms are extremely quiet, minimal noise from the road. We visit Barron and least twice a year and always come back to this restful, homey place.

Two other couples and ourselves stayed there Sun, Aug 26th, while attending a reunion nearby. Was very clean and very comfortable. Also friendly personel. I'd called a couple times ahead with questions, etc. and received courteous, friendly, helpful answers. Would definitely stay there again if in the area. Price was good too. Norma Trapp

I disagree with one of the reviews written regarding the price being too expensive for what it offers. Barron, Rice Lake and Chetek are summer lake getaways for alot of people in the Minnesota/Wisconsin areas. If you look at the hotel chains in the surrounding areas, you will find much higher rates. During the season it is hard to get reservations in alot of these hotels. The Barron Motel has been around for years. It has maintained it's small town charm, stayed updated with certain ammenities, such as refrigerators and hairdryers, and cable in the rooms. It has knowledgeble and friendly staff and is well known for it's cleanliness. It is right off of Hwy 8 a main road to and from the Twin Cities. I would compare it to a more upscaled Motel 6 with it's own small town decor and charm. If you are looking for fancy, pay to stay in a hotel chain and be prepared to pay over $90.00. Off season, the Barron Motel offers incredible value. If you are just passing through and need a place to lay your head or want to camp and enjoy the beauty of the area with the family, I highly reccommend it.
