Rice Planters Inn, Walterboro

Rtaes are not what they advertise, not enough toliet paper in the room, not enough towels available. Your key would not work if you left your room. The clerks nowhere to be found (on smoke breaks). Person of color subject to have the police called on them if they outside talking. No microwave & frig in rooms, no towel racks. Just a real no star Inn.

Right off I95, this room was $33.00 so my expectations were low. From the moment I checked in to a friendly "Hello", I was pleasantly surprised at a very clean room with a microwave, fridge and the WiFi I needed. No strange smells, or yucky feeling on the carpets, I have stayed at rooms that cost much more that were not half as nice. Within walking distance of restaurants and covenience stores, the location is fine for the weary traveler. I was even given 15% discount for a local restaurant. I have to keep my costs low so my expectations are for a shower and a decent bed...the Rice Planter's goes above and beyond and I recommend it.

This hotel was in the perfect location, restaurants all around you , and a gas stating all within walking distance. Hotel was clean, staff was very friendly. All of they above makes up for the hotel not having a conventional breakfast, Would definitely stay again, as well recommend to others.

My mother lives in Asheville, NC; many years ago, while traveling from St. Pete, FL, I happened upon the Rice Planters Inn. I used to make the 12-hour trip in one (very exhausting) stretch... NO MORE!! The Rice Planters Inn is now my mid-way respite, 3-4 times each year. This motel is extremely affordable, very clean, just off I-75, with a very friendly & most helpful staff. There are many close restaurants (3-4 are within walking distance)... the rest are a short drive away. What a gem!!

No frills, but the rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. Close to many restaurants, (one is within walking distance). Easy access on and off interstate.

Unless you have stayed at the Rice Planters Inn before, you would not know about it. It is a surprise to have a small hotel be as nice and the people as friendly. We stop every year on our way to VA. Walterboro should be very proud of this motel.
