Terrible customer service
After reserving a room to participate in the Lance Armstrong Foundation Moab Century bicycle ride, I arrived at the Moab Valley Inn, as scheduled, only to find that the hotel had mistakenly made my reservation for one week earlier and had debited my charge card when I did not show up.
Mistakes happen but should be corrected. The desk clerk offered me a substitute for the room I had reserved. It was on the busiest hallway in the establishment. She said that was all she had available. She would not correct the �No Show� charge they had put on my card a week earlier but told me I would have to take it up the with the desk supervisor in the morning.
The following morning, dressed in my biking clothes, ready to ride, I talked to the desk supervisor who, to my amazement, refused to authorize credit for the mistaken charge and told me to take it up with the general manager on Monday. I was astounded and was certainly unwilling to give them any more business. I told the desk supervisor I would be checking out immediately. Even then, I had to talk her into not charging me for the night I was canceling. She acted like she was doing me a favor.
I had to go back to my room to change clothes and pack so I could get out before the published checkout time. (I am sure that this desk clerk would allow no leeway in this regard.) Consequently, I could not participate in the ride. I am soured on Moab and will complain to the ride organizers.
