Black Nugget Motel, Craig

I found this motel online, and decided to try it on a long road trip. The owners were congenial, friendly, and helpful. The room was very clean and pleasant and had a view of the Yampa River valley. The cost was an excellent bargain, and I also stayed here on the return trip because the first experience was so positive! Since I don't sleep in the parking lot, I had no problem with its condition! I recommend this motel if you're looking for value, cleanliness, and location; it was well worth it.

I stay in the nice little town of Craig, Colorado quite often for business purposes. I have tried several of the motels in the area, but have found my "home away from home" in the Black Nugget Motel. The rooms are exceptionally clean and very well maintained. The staff and management are very friendly and helpful (that alone makes the stay at the Black Nugget a very pleasant and happy experience). Also, the view is fantastic, the motel is very close to all the amenities of the town - yet away from the traffic and the traffic noise. And to top it all off, the prices are VERY reasonable compared to any other place in town that even comes close to providing such a comfortable stay. I will keep coming back to the Black Nugget Motel, and recommend it to anyone traveling to Craig for vacation, work or, like me, for business.

Whatta rip-off!!! Very rude staff with limited english skills. Would never return!!!!!

I LOOK UP MOTELS ON YAHOO FOR CRAIG,CO. I SPECIFICALLY TYPED IN "PET FRIENDLY" AS I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY PET. THE BLACK NUGGET APPEARED IN LIST OF SEARCHES. ONLY AFTER I PAID BY CREDIT CARD, I WAS TOLD THAT MY PET COULD NOT STAY.

i thaught it was going to be this little hole in the wall (DIVE) of a motel. Boy was i wrong!!! the owners were great. rooms were spottless,and the staff was more than willing to make sure me and my family were comfortable. The maid (maria) and the cartaker (robert) bent over backwards for everyone that was staying there!!

Pros: Fridge & microwave, heater in bathroom, recently renovated, quiet & clean Cons: none I stayed 1 week at this hotel after checking 3 other hotels that were $20 more per night in the area. Was not dissapointed with this well maintained motel on the hill.

My family stayed here this summer. I'll have to admit the leaning entrance sign and potholed drive up to the motel had me wondering, as did the nearly nonexistant paint lines for the parking spaces. However, the room was a very pleasant surprise. Firm beds and spotless carpet and paint. Even my wife was impressed. The staff are very helpful and very friendly. Next time we're in Craig, we'll definitely stay here.
