Called to reserve a suite and was told that everthing I was told earlier had "changed now". Even though it was less than a month ago. Their cancellation policy suddenly was not valid because the weekend in question was a "busy weekend" (same weekend mentioned earlier... but apparently they didn't know it would be "busy"..?) Also was told that I could no longer make a reservation using my pre-paid voucher. No reason given; and If I wanted to hold the room I would be charged $200+/night with NO refund/cancellations allowed. Their lack of integrity, not to mention customer service, is appalling and has ruined not only our weekend, but my other family members as well as they had already finalized their suddenly "non-cancelable" reservations.

HONESTLY I DID NOT HAVE ONE DISLIKE ABOUT THIS PLACE.ALL THE PEOPLE THAT WORKED THERE WERE VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY.THE ROOM WAS BEAUTIFLY UNIQUE AND SPOTLESS.I WILL ALWAYS COME BACK HERE FOR MY GET-A-WAYS!!! AND RECOMMEND THEM TO EVERYONE I KNOW!!!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!!!

I cant wait to go back. I got a one bedroom for less than the price of a studio accross the street!!! Furniture, a little dated, but great service, people in the office were really nice, room was quite large, had a seperate bedroom and living room. Great breakfast place next door. Had coffee in the room. They even put some popcorn and chipts in the room!! Walked to the beach. And went bowling at night down the block!!! I love ocean shores!~!

I have to admit that they did have nice dishes, I think that was the only good thing about this hotel. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to even my worst enemy. We had problems before we even got there. I was called the night before my reservation being asked if I was still coming in, I replied with "tomorrow as that is when our reservation SHOULD be!" There were just kind of shocked at my reply, thanked me and hung up! When I got there no one seemed really happy about having to be at work, they were down, out of it, and mumbled a lot. When we 1st walked into the room there was a slight odor of mold, nothing to be said about it though, we just stayed the night and the next day went on with our lives, or so we thought. 2 days after the stay here I was looking into my bank statement because my acct was over drafted and I should of still had $90. This is when I noticed that there were two charges on my card from ocean shores inn and suite, one for $110(the room) and another for $108.40. So I called them and they said that someone was smoking in our room, but none of us smoke!! Now I am fighting with them, they did gave me $58.40 because they said they had to pay $50 to clean the room (if you have been here ever you would know that they do not do a very good job of keeping it clean anyways!!) So now I am still fighting for the rest of the $50 as well and the overdraft fee that I incurred due to them. To top this all off, the room was not in my name, I just used my card to pay for it!! I WOULD NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN, even if I was paid to do it!!

Disappointment sums up this visit at best. The web site above is misleading and out dated. Needs to be updated and correct information given. Late June, a Festival in town. The Indoor pool was "not ready to be open" It was in the low 60's outside and the heated outdoor pool was open (hummm) BUT it closed at 8pm even when asked to stay open longer to accomidate Guests. The Web site shows pictures of a breakfast buffet that is included with your stay. They no longer serve breakfast. Nor let you know that in your reservation or upon checking in. (I otherwise would not have booked) The water is not palatable. It is yellow and tates aweful. My Husband needed to study and needed the Internet, lets just say he didnt get much studying done. He kept loosing a connection and the Office was not accomidating. We were quoted one price online (email) and were charged a different price. (they did correct our credit card when we brought it to their attention) There were several other little things that continued to bug me but will not gointo them. It is my suggestion to pass to these accomidations unless your really on a budget.

I was a bit worried because I read some bad reviews, but they were a few years old and it looked like some people were enjoying it since then, so my wife and I and another couple, and 4 kids booked a three bedroom unit!! The old guy at the front desk was a little slow checking us in, but friendly and helpful. We were really happy with our choice. We didn't have to rent two rooms, we all got to stay in the same place, and the price was good. The furniture was a bit old style, but comfy. We ate out at a great breakfast place next door, and cooked one night in our kitchen, which worked out well. All in all, I really think this turned out good, and we will go back again.

I've been going to the Gitchie Gumee Inn since my college days and thought I was done with the place now that I'm a family man. However, they remodled the hotel and now it is probably the nicest hotel and best value in Oceans Shores. Super job guys! Keep up the good work.

The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished with full kitchens. Everything worked except the toaster and when I complained they replaced it with one that worked. The pool was closed, but it was cold outside anyway. The place was still being renovated, so there were some services not available until the renovation is complete, like wake-up calls. The pathways in the inner courtyard had some standing water, but the staff assured me that would be repaired as soon as they got a warm day to get the work done. For the price I paid, I feel like a got a real bargain and I would definitely come back again.

I stayed there a couple years ago when it was the Guesthouse and it was very run down, but I took a chance since they were advertising discounted rates, and I couldn't afford to pay for the expensive rates across the street. The pools were closed, but that was ok since we got a big discount! We stayed in a 2 bedroom, which was better than getting 2 rooms put together so I can keep an eye on my little ones. It was very close to the beach access, so we could walk there from the hotel!! All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

I stayed there while they are remodeling, and they were offering special rates, so I couldn't use the pools, but it was winter anyway, but the room was great! I stayed in a one bedroom, which was perfect since it had a kitchen so we could go to the local shopping market instead of hauling the kids for an expensive meal!! I think I saved the money on the meal by staying there!! It was not new and modern, but very cozy and comfortable. We had a balcony and could see the ocean when the sky cleared for a few hours!! It was perfect for me and family!!
