Okay, but ...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/08
Overall, it was okay. Great view overlooking the pool. However, saying the kitchen is fully stocked isn't true ... there's an oven, but when we asked for a pan to cook our meal in the oven, the clerk said, "Nope, sorry ... we don't have anything like that." If we had known, I would have brought a pan - but the ads said "fully equipped kitchens." What's the use of having an oven if there's no pan to cook anything in? There were only a few cups and bowls, no serving bowls ... I guess most visitors just eat out? Also, the game room was vandalized both nights we stayed, and when we showed up for the continental breakfast at 9:15 that was advertised as going until 10 a.m., almost all the food was gone, so we had to eat out.

Only as a last resort
By SH, 08/05/08
If you have pets and kids and don't want to worry about them trashing the place or being too loud, this is the place for you. I'm not kidding. Families with pets and kids seemed to think the place was OK. I was there for a getaway with girlfriends and could not have been more disappointed. Upon arrival, we noticed at least 3 people coming back and saying their key cards didnt work, we would end up with the same problem, not once, but 4 times. They ended up giving us physical keys to get in and out, which is a HUGE safety/security problem. How do we know that other people hadnt made copies of these already? There wasnt even anything that said " Do not copy" on the key. Our sofa bed had a burn hole the size of a baseball and when you lifted the cushion, there was a sign that said " dont use- broken", which left us with one less bed. When I called the front desk, they said " We dont advertise that we have sofa sleepers, I dont know who told you that you would be having one, they shouldnt have. Our sofa sleepers are hit and miss" and I am not exaggerating. Can you tell the front desk was rude? Um, yeah. She's also the Manager and customer service is not her forte. She was sarcastic and made you feel like an idiot with even the most simple requests. I'm surprised her answers didnt all end in " DUH!" but it was implied anyway. As for the room, I'm not sure what most people expect, but I was really bothered. It was furnished like your first apartment out of high school, but with furniture that you normally see on street corner bearing a sign that says " free". It was "surface clean" but DEEP DOWN DIRTY. Aside from the burned/ un-usable couch, the blinds were missing half their slats, the curtain had caked on dirt that looked like it'd never been cleaned, filth running down the walls, crusties on the carpet, etc. Seriously, I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. Upon checking out, I tried to ask who I could contact about our stay there and , yes, the same gal said " Me" and I said "well, aside from you." and she said "Noone" This went on for about 5 minutes of me trying to figure out who owned the joint and she gave me a run-around with things like " I'm not sure who owns it, it's a partnership though, I think it's a guy named Paul or something" and " They don't want to hear about your stay, they bought this for investment purposes only" Again, I AM NOT LYING, you cant make this stuff up! Once the phone rang and she said ( insert snotty tone and challenging glare here) " I have to get this. Is that OK with you???" Yeah, good times. Since I can't get in touch with anyone that seems to care about improving this place, I am going to go anywhere and everywhere I can to warn others! You've been warned!

Don't go
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/08
Likes: location was good. Kitchen supplies stocked. Dislikes: No air conditioning in the rooms and the rooms were very hot! People were sleeping with windows open, no screens. When I asked for a fan, the staff laughed and said "they're long gone." Thank goodness it was only 65* outside, but the rooms were incredibly hot! Old. Out-dated for the money. Felt dirty. "Indoor pool" was greenish-brown. Neighbors yelling in the middle of the night. Office was "closed until tomorrow". Some doors didn't close/lock properly. We won't be going there again! The website looks much better than what you get!

Thought it was a great deal, great experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/14/08
Went during Thanksgiving weekend (November 2007) had booked a 'townhouse' one of the larger suites. It was really inexpensive, had a full kitchen, stove, oven, microwave coffee maker and utensils, pots & pans, etc. Great continental breakfasst with fresh waffles, yoghurt, fruit, cereal. etc. It appeared to have been recently painted and cleaned and was quite pleasant. I'm not sure what the other rooms are like but I'm going back again April 18 booking a small room so I'll post a new review after we get there!

New ownership again? Think about it.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/18/08
I have stayed at this motel numerous times over the years. Every time I get there, it is being ran by a new owner. The last and final time that I stayed there I had to share my room with numerous fleas!! It look like they did some minor renovations, but all in all this place is still a dumpy, old motel... The motel was under staffed, the rooms were basic and in need of a good sanitizing and worst of all, the carpets were so filthy that I chose to wear my shoes in there since the carpet soiled my socks so badly. I tried to complain to the owner/manager but he basically stated that "I don't see a problem with it" nor do others.. What a response!! I would definitely reccomend staying at another hotel.. Sorry for the bad review!! But the new owners have a lot to learn.

Great value! Friendly Service! No pet fee!!
By Jessica, 09/26/07
When we arrived 4 hours early they got us right into our room and even upgraded us from a small room into a a suite for the the same price! We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute! One day we needed and iron and when I called the front desk they offered to bring it upstairs to our room - pretty nice service for a motel! We brought our dog and there was n NO PET FEE - pretty amazing!! The rooms were very clean and the suite was well stocked with all the amenities one would need for cooking. The pools were nice and we also used the game rooms and played billiards. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would definitely recommend staying at Guesthouse and will be back again next time we are in Ocean Shores!

Good stay, but not if you have allergies!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/11/07
I would recommend the guesthouse because they have both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Thus, making it great for kids and family time. The breakfast in the morning is great. You get waffles, with your choice of syrup or strawberries with whipped cream. They use a waffle iron so the waffles are extremely fresh, apples, bannanas, begals with cream cheese, apple or orange juice, toast, muffins, cerial, nots of stuff. The room is clean. BUT we did have a spot of rust at the bottom of our bathtub right where it meets the drain and then goes all the way into the drain. I am allergic to something in that room. Do not know what, but i wake up with a stuffy nose every single night. But the thing of it is, its such a great value that I probably will just buy some Clariton next time. The outdoor pool for the first few days was like a bathtub, but then got cold later. They stay open ALL year around! I would recommend a person that has allergies to either go get some Clariton for the allergies or shell out some more money and go accross the street to the Grey Gull.
