Where's the mattress?
By rupassionate?, 5/22/12
There are a lot of things that could use upgrading in this lovely historic hotel but, they can be overlooked. What cannot be over looked however and will keep me from staying there again, is the lack of a mattress on the bed. Yes, you read that correctly. There was a 4 inch horribly uncomfortable topper on a box spring. It was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in and I've stayed in some pretty bad dives in my life. Word up, if you decide to stay here, bring your own mattress or schedule a back massage for the morning after.

Hidden Historic Gem
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/10/12
Great historic Hotel! The location is ideal your right on Whiskey row on Whiskey Row walking distances to Art galleries, funky shops, Sharlot hall museum, Antiques shops. Front desk person very helpful with town information. The room was nice over looked a Prescotts town square, It was clean and comfotable, Funky art work but hey we love Historic buildings so to find this gem on the corner of Whiskey row was great . The breakfast which you get for free is a real hot cooked to order Breakfast in the Bisro. The Bistro is rich with color, great people watching, staff was great . If your looking for 5 star go somewhere else and leave us with Historic Grand Dames like the Hotel St. Micheal its a gem.

need some upgrades before i go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/09
i loved the location, food, the service they gave however the mattress are thin, back aches and had two bad nights of sleep. you can here everything your neighbors is saying. also the drainage system when showering the water goes out slow so you standing in puddles of water up to your ankles and the Manager is NO were to be found. i even called after we checked out the next day and she still not in after they said she'll be in on monday. THIS IS NO EXAGGERATION it's an old place true an that okay however the matteress the plumbing is should not be exceptable and the manager no were around. I'm home recuperation from a terrible terrible stay at this hotel.

Waste of money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/9/09
Expensive for what youi get. Smalest room I have ever seen in a hotel/motel. You can barely get around the small bed. Loud a/c. However, you need the loud a/c to block out the sound comming from the bar next door...very loud band. Small towels and almost thread bare. The only thing the hotel has going for it is its location, great staff and the restaurant next door. They did serve very good food.

mediocore at best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/3/08
ambiance and decor of the lobby and dining area were very nice. room was cute and clean, but linens looked and felt old and tired. what should have been cute and quaint was tarnished by the linens. there was no hot water in the morning so we were not able to take a shower. they advertise free full breakfast, but in reality, it's TWO breakfasts - children are not given a voucher so there is an additional cost. staff wasn't rude but not overly friendly either. hotel was actually very interesting but the room was nothing to write home about - bathroom was airplane size, tv was extremely small, no view, window exceptionally small.

The only place to stay on Wiskey Row!
By TomL, 8/2/08
I have been staying at St. Michael's for over 10 years. We stay every year for my son's birthday. This is his yearly choice of places to stay. While we are in town, on Wiskey Row we stay here due to the walking distance to all the best drinking saloons and it's cheep rates. To make your stay fun and joyful you MUST know what rooms to pick from... Do not stay in the rooms that butt up to Matt's Saloon (it's loud on the weekends, until past 1am) Pick a room that is on the top floor (3rd Floor) and looks out on to either Montezuma (Wiskey Row) or Gurly St... The view is awesome. At night (weekends) it's a great way to people watch those who are on the sidewalks. Non-smoking rooms is a must. Look, it's a old hotel and has a lot of history, this is not a Hilton, Geez it's in the western town of Prescott! For the price and the location it's a 5 star!

Buyer beware; AVOID!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/14/08
AVOID THIS HOTEL. In addition to the terrible staff, poor rooms and overpriced rates, it lacks any hint of adequacy. Does the hotel have any obligation to warn its guests of a two-night high school reunion (hard rock entertainment) booked in the ballroom directly below a wing of the hotel? They didn't think so. And they were incensed that anyone would complain of the noise. A request to change rooms was treated with complete indifference and actual disdain, even when an offer was made by the guest to take a lesser room. AVOID THIS HOTEL!!!

Piece of History
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/8/08
Location: right in the middle of the action. We stayed on a Friday night and had requested an interior room to avoid street noise. We didn't hear any noise and slept well. The room was clean and comfortable with a good-sized bathroom. The hallways and stairways are clean and give an old-time feel. The breakfast included was excellent. We'd stay here again. It's a good value .

Great Hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/07
Great location, classic style. Rooms are a bit small and need some renovation but the price is hard to beat. Perfect downtown Prescott location, on Whiskey Row. And the bistro inside the hotel is amazing. Some of the best food we have eaten in a long time!

Over-priced, over-rated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/6/07
This is the most over-priced and over-rated hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. Mine was a tiny last-century room complete with oder, air shaft view, window A/C that sound like a 747 take-off, tiny bathroom - only sink, toilet and half-shower but did have noisy full-time fan. Uneven floor and 60-watt light bulbs throughout. Worst of thrift shop furniture, hard bed better suited as pool table. Surly staff, no ice avail except at front desk. Paid $98 but room was so depressing and unsuitable I checked out in three hours. Of course there was no interest in my reasons much less an offer of a refund. Search for the many fine hotels/motels in Prescott, Prescott Valley area and don't waste money and time in this rat trap.
