Disgusting!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/21/11
Let me just start off by saying I knew we weren't going to be staying at The Trump Tower but I wasn't prepared to be staying at a hotel you'd find in Cass Corridor downtown Detroit. As we were walking down the hall to our room we were suddenly hit by an overwhelming stench of smoke, and not just cigarettes. I thought to myself, aren't all establishments in Michigan now non-smoking? Ofcourse I already knew they were I just had to double check because I was surprised. We open the door and the place smells of stale, closed up nasty, thick air. Like a damp basement almost. The walls looked as if they were caked in smoke and there was no screen in the window, so I couldn't open it to air the place out. And come to find out, not one of any of the windows in that entire hotel had screens. The curtains were nasty and stained and thick with old smoke on them. It was late-about 11pm so I was just thinking we had to "get through it". After putting our own bedding on the bed, I could NOT stand it. I went to the office and spoke with the owner. His words to me: "I know people are smoking down there and it's not just cigarettes and weed. But, I cant just go knocking on everyones door if I don't know who it exactly is". I was disgusted and appalled and shocked!!!! He was the owner, and claimed it was a "family run" place. He said he'd move us to the King Suite and we'd love it! And it would be the same price as the other room, no problem. So, we pack up our room and move to the King Suite. Open the door and it's equally as disgusting except this room has a refrigerator. Walls the same, curtains the same, caret stained and nasty, dirty bathroom... you get the picture. We were tired so we "got through it". With 2 hours of sleep. We woke up and barely spoke and packed as fast as we could! Paid and didn't even look at the receipt after checking out because we were in such a hurry to get outta there! And when we finally did later that day, ofcourse as the many untruths that were told in that window of time, he charged us the Suite price. $101. What a slum lord! I've stayed at many places all over and in different cities from B&B's to 5 star resorts to motels and never in my life have I witnessed a more disgusting, dirty, nasty place. I swear has the health department even been there? Violations galore! Please take my honest, unfiltered advice and stay clear from here!!

Never again!
By Jillian, 8/5/09
We stay at the Rest All Inn every year for the Canoe Marathon. This year was the last time. We reserved a suite so we would have a kitchen. When we walked into our room it had the smell of cat urine and some minty air freshener trying to cover it up. We suffered through it that night because we were tired and there were no other rooms available in the town due to the race. The next morning, I called and asked the be moved to another suite. The response I got was, "that's fine but we have a lot of people checking out today so it won't be available until tonight." There was no apology or acknowledgement of my complaint about the room. My husband and I discussed it and decided we couldn't stay any longer. We booked a room at a hotel down the road for the next night. When he went to let them know we were leaving they again did not apologize. He even overheard some staff saying that something will need to be done about that room. We've been back a week and still smell cat urine when we open our car trunk because our luggage and everything in it stunk so bad from one night in that hotel. Everything else has been washed but our luggage and trunk will never be the same. My biggest complaint is not the room, we don't have high expectations when we stay there. It is that no one cared. We obviously weren't the first people to have an issue with that room and it was not something they could have missed. We've already booked our hotel for next year's Canoe Marathon and it is not the Rest All Inn.

wont go back there again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/22/06
The place was dirty, found hair in bed on sheets, black on bottom of tub and the toilet looked like it was not even cleaned. The pool room was ok but had alot of sand in the bottom of the pool and the pool room bathroom was filthy. The service well lets just say the one lady who checked me in her name was Norma and she was very rude then another lady Named Amy was yelling at another employee right in front of me and other guests very unproffesional. I will stay somewhere else from now on.

We have enjoyed all of our stays here and would recommend to others.
By Rhoda, 9/27/05
We loved the staff, they were always friendly and very helpful. We stayed with our little one and completely forgot about bringing something for the baby to sleep in. The women were so polite and helpful. They had a crib in the back that they not only brought to our room they also put it up and made sure that we were completely satisfied with it before they left the room. We have stayed in different hotels and motels, but we have never stayed in one that has ever compared to this one. I really do not think that the room makes the place (even though it helps) I truly believe that the people on staff are what makes a place what it is. If you have a bad experience with a staff member no matter how good the room or establishment is you are still going to have a negative outlook on the place and will most likely never go back. We go back to the Oscoda Super 8 as often as we can, but not as often as we would like. Thank you so very much ladies!!!
