Never use the Banquet Room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/9/07
I had booked my daughters wedding 15 months prior to the event to be held in their banquet room. We also reserved 30 rooms for out of town guests. In that time span there were several different managers and none of them knew what the previous manager had agreed to do. Thank goodness I had a contract! Two weeks before the wedding my daughter called to check on some of the guest reservations & were told some had been cancelled (they had not been), she was also checking as to whether the kitchen had been cleaned, if they had a bartender, if they had gotten the table linens, etc., & the hotel owner was very rude to her. She wanted her day to be as perfect as possible & he was awful to her. It is now 2 days since the wedding. Some of the reservations were in the wrong name, some of the rooms that were supposed to be adjoining were not, the front dest clerk was totally clueless! We had to clean the tables for the banquet, vaccuum the room ourselves,& cob webs hanging from the ceiling. We did all this cleaning before decorating. Then after the wedding we cleaned again & I also had to bring home the table linens to clean them! Have you ever heard such a thing? I am returning the linens today & will never step foot in that place again. Their continental breakfast is a joke. The cream even soured in the coffee! It is such a shame as to the management of that place. The banquet room is beautiful & in a beautiful location of the White Mountains. I live about 30 miles from the resort & there are not many places available in which to have a function that will accommodate over 150 guests. We had 164 guests. There are many more things I could tell you about but this is already long enough.
