La Playa Hotel, Alghero

A wonderful family run hotel that makes you welcome and comfortable. Food in the restaurant is great. Its small size and personal service makes it a world of difference from the bigger tourist hotels. Close to the great beaches north of Alghero, yet only 15 minutes walk into the old town. The pool, is set in a garden environment with the restaurant beside it. Eating in the evenings is outside except when the weather is not suitable. Ideal hotel for a romantic holiday or for the family.

We were a little bit aprehensive about staying somewhere where we had never been before, nor had any recommendations for. However, Hotel La Playa is a lovely place to relax, chill out and base yourself from in Alghero. It is immaculately clean, rooms are ample size, and ours had a great view over the swimming pool and sea. We really couldn't believe our luck on our first day when we had lunch at the pool and were served up the biggest and tasiest king prawns I have ever seen. The food in the pool side bar is spot on, and much better than some of the restaurants in Alghero that we sampled. The hotel is friendly, welcoming and only a stones throw fron the beach. Just 20 minutes walk from the hotel along the beach, and you are in the centre of the bustling old town. Hotel La Playa is a great little find, and it certainly has our recommendation for the makings of a great holiday.
