The Delta Hotel is situated in the center of Amsterdam, only a few steps away from Central Station, Dam Square and the Royal Palace; it is a vibrant location. The hotel has the rudest staff, the room smelt strongly of urine, and the cleaner is absent. Don't expect clean towels or your bed made.
During breakfast, the waiter/waitress didn't even bother to provide us with napkin or cutlery. Staff are the rudest and most arrogant you will find.
This place is truly awful :-(
The one-star rating Yahoo gives is well-deserved...Although the staff was very nice, the location was great (central, close to the train station), and the breakfast (included) was good, it seemed that there was only one person at all times to service the place (maid service, that is)...When we arrived, we had no linens and had to ask for them...It seemed that we had perhaps one of the only rooms that hadn't been redecorated, so the other ones looked quite nice, but ours looked antiquated...Every time we had to call about something, we were left wondering if we'd been forgotten...I asked about an iron several times, and the definitive answer eventually was that the iron had probably been stolen by one of the guests, and that I'd remain a wrinkly tourist...The shower floor was only about an inch below the rest of the bathroom floor, and the drain was incredibly slow, so I thought we'd have a flood into the hotel room...When this issue was mentioned to the staff, nothing was done before we left, so anything left on the bathroom floor became soaked...
Of course, we were in Amsterdam that weekend for the massive Queen's Day celebration and didn't spend much time in the hotel...We knew the room would be cheaper for a reason, but stay away from this place, unless it is the only thing open that you can afford...
How would you like to be on vacation and paying top dollar for hotel accommodations but never gain access to your room? This was our experience and to add insult to injury, after paying up front for a room for 4 nights, we were told we seemed to be the only ones who were having problems with our door. Funny, I guess the management forgot about the hired help having to crawl along the restaurant roof to gain acess by coming in through our window to open up the room for us every time we wanted into our room. Also forgotten was the fact that the hotel cleaning staff was interrupted while doing our room as we had clean towels but the dirty ones were left in a pile on the floor because housekeeping couldn't get back in to finish their work! My suggestion, find another hotel and save yourself the misery we got from this place. Amsterdam is awesome, just find a better spot to hang your hat. You should be treated as a respected guest, you pay for it, and you deserve it!
