Ames Farm Inn, Gilford

My family along with five other families,friends of my parents went to Ames Farm Inn from 1974 to 1981,annually for weekend in June. I found it to be an awesome place. It was very tranquil. The owners were very accomadating. I have some awesome memories of the time that I spent there. I would most definitely recomend Ames Farm Inn to other people!

WHAT COULD YOU NOT LIKE. HAS EVERYTHING FOR A SINGLE PERSON, MARRIED PERSONS, AND FAMILY. TO VERY BUSY, TO VERY PEACEFUL. MANY MEMORIES. DON'T GET BACK THERE ENOUGH. ALWAYS WONDERFUL NO MATTER WHAT THE WEATHER. BEEN THERE WHEN VERY HOT. WISH WE BROUGHT THE FANS WITH US. BEEN THERE WHEN IT WAS COLD. ONE YEAR WE HAD TWO HAIL STORMS WHEN THERE THE THIRD WEED OF JULY. SHOULD HAVE HAD SNOW SHOVELS. ALWAYS A GOOD TIME.

The people at Ames Farm Inn are so friendly and laid back. The property is expansive and comfortably underdeveloped - lots of open space. The buildings and apartments are older, we stayed in an efficiency apartment, the decor of the rooms is unremarkable but sparkling clean with a really nice view. No funky, gunky stuff lurking on surfaces or in corners that you are afraid the baby will touch. That's what matters most to me anyway when you are there to spend time on the lake and just sleep in the room who cares about the color of the sofa? We have a 1 year old and 3 year old and felt very safe and comfortable with them there. They have docks and we kept our boat right there next to the sandy beach. Perfect for us.

This comming summer will be my third at Ames. It is so friendly I think I know the reviewer before me. My girlfriends family has been going to Ames Farm Inn for over 30 years as well. Now my girlfriend and myself are taking over responsibility for arranging the cabin for summer vacation. The cabins are basic but have all the items necessary for cooking, cleaning, sleeping. They have their own beach, boat launch, and docks. Large areas for outdoor activities. And the lake is absolutely amazing if you are into boating. If you are into sight seeing or shopping. There are several towns around the lake to fit the bill. It amazes me how many people know each other. Many of them over several decades at Ames Farm. I can think of 4 families that have been there over 20/30 years. And 3 of them, the second generation is bringing the third generation to Ames. Another quaint note is in the business office. There is a posting board in the office. If you look closely. You can see pictures of kids, that now rent the cabins and have their own children. Definately family friendly!

This place is like my home away from home! Its incredible here! Theres a store, a breakfast/lunch restaurant, a dock, and so many friendly people that you meet here that you never want to leave! Theres plenty of games to play, a beach, everything! This is a great spot to vacation with your family! I love it here!
