Buyer Beware!!
By ,
Just a concerned warning to anyone making reservations through Killington…..beware of the “bait and switch”. I have been staying up at Pico Resort and Condominiums for five consecutive years and am very familiar with the Killington area having spent a number of ski seasons there. Last year I had a sub-par experience, but this year was the worst. I annually stay in a particular condo in the “I “ building, and was assured at reservations three weeks ago that we (myself and four daughters) would be in the same three bedroom condo again. Upon arrival, we were diverted to another building and a two-bedroom condo with a pull out couch. I agreed to the different building to be accommodating and then went to visit relatives so I didn’t know it was two-bedroom until too late since everyone there leaves at 6 and there was no after hours phone to call except Dwayne, the manager of the Grand”, who made it clear that he could care less in an amazingly cordial tone! When we go into the room itself later that evening there was no cable TV. active (Pay your bills Dwayne!), the logs were unseasoned so all we had was smoldering for the fire, and now I had to sleep on a pull out couch that had NO SHEETS. I looked all around, but sure enough, no sheets in the house. It was gross. When I got home after the weekend, I decided to call Killington to voice my displeasure at being initially misled, and tell them that their accommodations are sub-par given what is charged. I opined that I should be offered half the money that I spent back since I did not get the room I was told, did not have TV. service, could not build a fire, and slept on a gross pull out bare mattress. After a couple unreturned calls, Dwayne referred me to Tammy (the Pico manager) who made it clear she could care less in an amazingly cordial tone. Tammy said any more questions would have to wait because she is going away until November 7 on vacation. I hope your vacation was better than mine Tammy, although I can safely assume that the staff was infinitely more available and professional than Killington’s. Seriously folks, going skiing at Killington is a real expense, and I highly encourage you to not stay at a Killington based resort. There are so many other really great options adjacent to the mountain. If you have to deal with these cordial morons, then please make sure you get written confirmation that includes the room that you were promised. At least you will have your information well defined before you are screwed and then cordially dismissed.

loved it!

I read the other reviews and wonder if they stayed in the same place I am now, Check in was fast and very helpful, The place is grand, clean and with breathtaking views of all the mountains. Even though Irene was here a month ago they are working hard to fix the grounds. We wanted a room with a better view and they were very accomodating. The pool is warm and inviting. The sauna was relaxing. The gym is well equipped. I highly recommend this Hotel for a relaxing retreat.

Not the best , not the worst
By ,
If you are expecting luxury dont go to the Killington Grand. However it has its good points. Its location is second to none. The gym and outdoor heated pool are great. The restaurant is above average. The rooms for large families (5 or 6) people are okay when you get used to them and are cleaned daily. The staff however are not well trained, the bar, the shop and restaurant shuts very early and the hotel is expensive compared to others in the locality. Would I go back-probably yes, because of location.

Great Location, But Getting Motel-ish
A location that can't be beat, but expect to wait for check-in service at the chronically understaffed front desk. Family-oriented, so if kids bother you, don't bother... Rooms are starting to run down, with worn carpeting and lumpy mattresses a common feature. Walls are thin, so we've been forced to endure elephants above, screaming kids to the left, and newlyweds to the right ("what's that bumping sound?"). On our last stay, we enjoyed the constant company of a previous guest's used band-aid in the corner of our bathroom, and the orangy product of expectoration on the inside of the shower curtain. Repeated pleas for a special visit from housekeeping didn't help (back to the service issue). Spotty valet/bellhop service means self-service at random times of day. The restaurant (Ovations) is mediocre. The outdoor pool and hot tubs are great, and full of kids 24/7. Decent exercise room, ski valet, small gift/supplies shop in the lobby. Free high-speed wireless internet. Free Ricola at the front desk.

Great Heated Pool
By ,
Very comfortable and resort like. Our seven year old played in the heated pool for hours. Well equiped weight room and spa. Good food at in-house restaurants. Great location for short day trips. Great view of Killington slopes also.

Last Time Here
By ,
This was our third and definitely last stay here. This is an expensive high-end resort hotel that gives you the luxury of skiing on and off the slopes. But that's where the luxury begins and ends. Our check-in experience was terrible. It took over an hour, there were no bell hops available, luggage trolleys were difficult to come by, at best, the line at the front desk was chaotic and long, and parking at check-in was a disaster with double parking, abandoned cars and on and on. And kudos to the staffer who repirmanded my wife and son for taking our luggage up by themselves to the room after the long wait. She told them that they was taking the livelihood of the bell hops - after we tried in vain for an hour to get one's attention. Oh, and in addition to the over $500 per night for the two rooms to sleep my wife and our two kids, it cost $15 per night to park - not valet parking, but self service, and not particulalrly covenient. Now to the room. The dishwasher left the dishes dirty. The pull out sofa bed was low-end and vey uncomfortable, the maids did not replenish the coffee, soap or shampoo every day, and they failed to vacuum every day. Oh, and they left dirty wash clothes in the tub, which leads us to believe the bathroom was not really cleaned. Now for full disclsoure, it was the busiest week of the year - President's Week, but I think the American Ski Company, which owns the peoperty, probably knew that and certainly knew that they were booked solid, but still they failed to staff properly. Third time, last time. I do not recommend this hotel. Next time we'll find other lodging to give us the luxury of "ski on, ski off."

The Grand is always AWSOME!
By ,
Next weekend will be our 5th year visting the Grand. We like it so much we brought our entire Family from PA in 2000 and got married at the peak. Everyones room was outstanding! The outdoor heated pool in teh winter by itself is enough to make the Grand worth the price. Teh rooms are very clean and skiing can't be any more convenient. Check you skis at the back door & pick them up on your way to the slopes the next morning which are just across the bridge outback. No question, in all our trips the Grand rates at the top for all ski resorts for us!!

Will be returning
By ,
The location is no better! Service & cleaniness as exemplary, but the friendliness of the staff was outstanding. Amenities are first rate and the out door pool & sauna are awesome. Looking forward to returning during the ski season. Have recommended the hotel for our state bar association for seminars & conferences.
