Hampton Inn Albany, Albany

There was a load of garbage on the balcony-hall outside of room 213 when I arrived. Various room doors were scuffed and marked up, looked like the ghetto. Room bathroom had scuff marks and rusted air vent. Air conditioner was loud. Coffee maker exploded. Coffee at breakfast was scalding hot.

It was late when we checked in. We were all tired and ready to go to sleep (on our way to Disney World with two young children). Although the room appeared to be clean, it looked more like a "Motel 6" than a Hampton Inn. We've stayed in lots of Hampton Inns and this was definitely the worst in appearance. When I went to remove the decorative pillows from the bed, there was someone's clipped fingernail (appeared to be a thumb nail). The sheets and pillow cases appeared to be clean. We decided since it was so late to go ahead and stay the night. This was definitely a bad decision. One of the noisiest nights we have ever spent in a hotel. People yelling, talking, and slamming doors all through the night and early morning. Take our advice--do not stop at this Hampton Inn--it gives Hampton Inn a horrible name.

I liked the fact the the staff at the check-in desk was very friendly, courteous, and helpful. Breakfast was included in the price of the hotel stay for each day we were there. The room was nice and clean, the beds were very comfortable, and there was an abundance of towels to use. The pool area was nice and clean. I like the fact that we could walk out of the hotel directly to the Albany Mall, shopping stores, and restaurants. My dislikes were due to the fact that we were traveling with an infant, the rooms had no microwaves or mini refridgerators . It was very frustrating. I didn't have a place to store my infant formula nor a place to warm up a bottle. We ended up having to purchase a small cooler to keep in the room. If we needed to have a bottle warmed, we had to let the hot water run for a long period of time and try to at least get the formula to room temperature. Another thing I dislike was the parking. We had to park and unload our luggage clear across the parking lot. It was very tiresome trying to walk across the parking lot and carry luggage up to the second floor of the hotel. To get to the ice machine you had to walk around to the other building and back. This wasn't the WORST hotel I've ever stayed at, but it's not at the top of my favorite list either. I would stay here again compared to other places I've stayed.

The location is great, rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast nice and included in room price. Nice swimming pool, and internet ready. Very friendly staff. If you want a clean, safe, friendley place to stay, this is it. I am a repeat customer. Keep in mind this is not a 5 star hotel.Would reccomend this hotel to family and friends. MaryAnne Pace
