Great Location, Worst Front Desk Ever
By ,
The Chateau Bourbon is located at the intersection of Iberville St. and Bourbon St. - A short walking distance to restaurants, bars and shops also near by access to Canal Street which is where you will catch the street cars or RTA buses if needed. When we arrived at the hotel, we were kindly greeted and given hotel room key cards. We walked up to the room and were shocked to find out that the toilet barely worked, the bathroom sink was badly leaking water from the knobs and leaked all over the bathroom counter area, the hair dryer didn't work and when we went to walk onto the balcony the door knob completely came off the door. ( the balconies are shared with several other rooms) which isnt a big deal for me personally but other people might not like the idea, especially if your neighbors party out on the balcony all night long and leave behind large amounts of garbage and emtpy beer cans. We were not moved to another room and the front desk sent someone to fix the toilet and leaky sink and replaced the door knob on the balcony door. The employees at the front desk did not have any knowledge of the surrounding area, we asked about coffee shops and other restaurants. We were left to figure things out on our own. The hotel room did not have a microwave, small fridge, or other amenities offered at most hotels. The location is the only good thing about this hotel. Our room was on the Bourbon street side of the hotel, be prepared for very loud music and loud people until about 4:00 AM when everything in the streets suddenly becomes quiet. We were usually so tired after walking around all day that we were able to sleep through most of it.

Hard to beat
By ,
We have stayed at many properties in New Orleans over the past 35 years years and consider this hotel a great find. Location is perfect - half a block to Bourbon street. The happiest surprise was that, unlike most hotels in the French Quarter, the a/c worked very well and kept the room cold as you'd want - GREAT after a day out in the heat. Room was exceptionally large with high ceilings (12' maybe), so large in fact that the furnishings seemed sparse in spite of the fact that all the usual pieces were there. Getting to the hotel from Canal street was easy and it was simple to load/unload in the hotel's covered private driveway. Easy self-parking in the high rise parking lot directly across the street -- $20 a night, in advance, no in/out. (Parking is at a premium in the Quarter, so expect to pay extra anywhere you stay.) Well-appointed lobby. Staff was efficient and courteous but not particularly outgoing. Pool and pool area on the second floor was nice and well-stocked with clean towels. This was our first time to stay at this property, but it definitely will not be our last. I think you would be pleased with the experience, too.

Perfect Honeymoon Stay
By ,
We stayed here for our honeymoon, which was supposed to include 2 days in Biloxi. But we chose instead to extend our stay in New Orleans at this fabulous historic hotel. Quiet, comfortable, overlooking the courtyard, this was a very romantic stay at an affordable price. We walked everywhere...to the French Quarter, the market, Canal Street, the ferry, and of course, Bourbon Street. Would stay here again without blinking an eye. Yes, the parking was expensive, but this is downtown New Orleans. Did I mention how luxurious the room and bath is? Stay here!

Loved it!
By ,
We are Senior Citizens and I must say the staff was wonderful to us. Loved the huge room was sparsely decorated we did not mind the bed was wonderful. Housekeeping, never sure if we would have regular coffee and a few other minor things but over all our room was clean, nice patio, great location. Would stay there their again.

Never again
By ,
I was given a queen room instead of my confirmed king room. I was told that they were full and no way could they change and to try back the next day. Tried again for a room change the next day and once again denied. In my entire life I have never been denied a room change when requested. Their attitude was basically too bad so sad, The first day there we had no hand towels in the room. The second day we had two. The third day we had one. Go figure. The ice bucket was never emptied. The outside rooms are very loud at night especially on the side close to Bourbon Street. Wireless internet was $10 day which I found ridiculous. Parking was $30 a day. Rooms are sparsely decorated with only one small round table that held the coffee pot and ice bucket. No work area and the only drawers were in the entertainment center. My stay for 3 days cost over $600 and I limited myself to one day of internet access and no extra room charges except for parking and I did not even get my confirmed room. Never again.

One nice place
By ,
I have stayed on 2 different occasions, right in the middle of everything what more can a traveler ask for. Clean and classy hotel near trolley's and in walking distance of entire French Quarter.

Great hotel in a great location
By ,
A very classy hotel at a very reasonable price (paid $89 AAA rate on a Saturday night). Location was great- right at the edge of Bourbon Street. A previous reviewer recommended getting an interior room (facing the pool or courtyard), which we did, to avoid the noise of Bourbon Street. I actually didn't notice any noise at all. Room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable with thick pillows. Parking was the only thing that was expensive ($24 self-park or $28 valet, plus tax). To be fair I don't thing the hotel has much control over the parking rates due to the location. The basic cost was no more than most discount chains in the area and it felt much more like a "luxury" hotel.

Very helpful service and great location
By ,
This is definitely a great hotel in a prime party location. I was here for a convention and ended up being above one of the Bourbon bars so I found it hard to sleep at first, but after requesting a room change to the 4th floor I was able to sleep just fine. If you are here to party all night, this shouldn't won't be a concern, but for those of you on business trips, this could definitely the difference between a productive or groggy morning. The staff were very accommodating in making my stay comfortable.
