beautiful place to relax
By DARLENE, 1/12/08
Built into a lush hillside, the setting is spectacular. The beach is dark sand, and there are many coral reefs for snorkeling. There are bicycles, scooters, water sports and organzied activities. Three a la carte restaurants, a snack bar, and a large buffet restaurant -- you won't go hungry. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Santiago airport is approx an hour and a half from the resort. The road is in very bad condition, but fun to see all the animals and scenery en route. The beach bar makes excellent mojitos! Very casual restful resort.

beware of the sand fleas
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/17/06
The beach is infested. My husband and i along with many others suffered for the entire two weeks, zoned out on benadryl and itching all night. We have been home for three days are still suffering from the bites. Our doctor thinks we may scabies as well. Suffering in Toronto

SM is the best!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/06
I like everything about this place there were a group of 12 ,3 childrens age 3, 5 & 12 and the rest adult the ages were 30 to 60 this hotel was just what we needed there was lost for the kids to do, with or without you exllent job at the kidsclub lots of familiar faces there the people that work there dosen't spect the tip of gifts but they are very welcome and apricieted.as long as you go there to relax ,recharge, and reconect with your self and nature, it will be the time of your life, just make sure you don't spect to much this is a very clean and low key resort. we have fun and I'm sure you can too.

It's not what it used to BE!!!
By John, 2/20/06
We were there in 2001 and went back because we liked the size and low key environment. This time we were disappointed and my wife says she won't go back. The hotel has gone down hill from 2001 and in our opinion should be rated as a **. The food was OK. Our air conditioning didn't work and it took three tries to get moved to another room. There were mice on the balconies so you couldn't leave stuff out over night to dry. They kept running out of stuff for drinks (lime, Vodka, Bailies and other mixes) and they were not full. They could do better with supply management. They have now started letting Cuban families in to the facility and at times there were 8 to 10 Cuban kids in the hot tub. Nice if it was supposed to be a pool for the little people?? The Cubans monopolized the water craft and it seemed as if the tourists were second class. Don't get me wrong we love the Cuban people. The staff were using the facility on their days off as well

Woody from Burlington, On CA gives it two thumbs up!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/5/05
Sierra Mar.. loved it! it was paradise, I spent two weeks there; and it was great. My budy and I were both 23 years old, it was great. the service is amazing, they put up with a lot and they are always friendly. The rooms are small but nice; they even have central air. The beach is wonderful. The food is great! and the landscape is breath taking. It does take a while to get there, but its worth the bus ride. I had no bad experiences while I was there, and I even spent a night in a close by town called Chivirico.. I reccomend going because I know you'll have a kick ass time... Ps CANADA ROCKS!!!
