Worst Hotel ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/21/09
The website is very misleading. Those pics that are on the site had to been taking 30 yrs ago or when they first open. LOL!!! The pics on the site isnt the same when u step up in that dump. The hotel is filthy and has an odor. I had to get another room because the hot water wasn’t working. Plus, when we switch rooms the heat wasn’t working. The sheets wasn’t that clean, and the bedspread was a hot mess.(bad) The walls are so thin that u can hear when people are in the hallway, or taking a bath. Black stuff like smoke was coming out the vents. It looks kind of like smoke flakes. Don’t know why! Worst experience ever. Me and my friend was mad, we wanted to cry. We had another friend that came on the trip and she stayed at Best Western. It’s right across the street, and they were nice. It’s a waste of money to stay at Pelham Hotel. We spent 112.00 on that hotel and that was including tax, they also put a 35.00 fee on there and don’t know where the charge came from. That price was only for one night. SADD!! But I know next time!!! They can’t even tell u where your car is going to be parked. U can believe the site if u want to, but u will be very disappointed if u stay there. This hotel is sad!!! The rooms should’ve been free!!! People shouldn’t have to pay to stay at a place like that. It’s sad but true! I should’ve looked at the reviews before I booked the room, but I will from now on.

Worst hotel stay - EVER!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/4/09
The website is totally misleading. Not sure what hotel those photos were taken, but I think I would like to stay there or have the photographer that photoshopped the Pelham pictures do my portraits. The hotel was beyond filthy. Just to document the complaints: 1. Sheets (supposedly just changed) had long black hairs on the pillows. 2. The coverlet and blanket smelled musty, and felt grimy. The sheets were questionable at best - hard to tell if they were clean or not, considering that they were gray, threadbare and had holes in them. 3. There was dust, hairs, old cheerios from past guests, and other various filth on the baseboards, toilet paper roller, and along the carpet. We tried to plug in my laptop behind the nightstand and were disgusted by the years' worth of vile debris that laid on the baseboard. AND, the plug did not work either. 4. Carpet was NEVER vacummed upon our check in. My boyfriend stepped out of the shower, made the mistake of walking across the carpet in bare feet and thought he "forgot" to wash his feet because there was so much grime on them...FROM WALKING ACROSS THE CARPET!! There was so much paper, old food, pens, candy wrappers, tissues, dust bunnies and grime under the bed that our dog thought it was a buffet. 5. The refridgerator in the room had old icecream that melted all over the inside. That was NEVER cleaned out during our stay. 6. We called at 9:00 AM the next morning after checking in late the night before to ask if our room could please be cleaned AND vacummed. It was finally given a quick, inadequate once over at 6:00 PM!!! They did vacuum where they thought we might walk. The next day, our room was once again given a brief once over (i.e: trash cans emptied, "fresh??" towels, and the bed made) and we got 2 semi-clean bath towels...no washcloths, no hand towels no bath mat. We also got no soap and no toilet tissue - until we asked. 7. The weather turned very cold. Our room never warmed up past 51 degrees. The heat did not work. We were offered to move at 9:00 PM on our last night. We asked for 2 CLEAN blankets instead. Not sure what homeless person had to forfeit their coverlets. My suggestion to future guests: Don’t pull the coverlets up to your face and please leave the black light at home. Trust me! You do not want to know what body fluids have been left by past inhabitants. 8. When checking out, we called for bell service or at least a cart. Waited an hour and made several trips to bring down our items while my boyfriend had to clear up the wrong items and mischarges on our bill. A cart, bellman or help never materialized. The rooms are of typical size for an older hotel, especially in New Orleans. This hotel has a TON of potential. It just needs to do some serious sprucing up of furnishings and MAJOR cleaning. Then keep it clean. The condition of the rooms at this hotel constitutes a science project! There is more leftover DNA in these hotel rooms than the crime lab downtown! The restaurant looks inviting, but hotel guests would NEVER set foot in it. If they can't keep hairs off the pillows when they are changing the bed, do you really think they keep hair out of the food.....or worse...are judicious about washing hands before food prep???? Not chancing it. Sorry. Not hard to understand why the restaurant was usually EMPTY! I think we called the front desk every day that we were there for one item or another.....so the justification that issues cannot be resolved if they are not reported does not fly. Our issues WERE reported. When a guest tells the front desk that the room is filthy and could it be CLEANED AND VACUMMED with fresh sheets,.....that should be a HUGE heads up. AND yes, we did call the front desk when we found the long black hairs on our supposedly clean bed upon checking in. Doesnt that count as complaints? Come on. This hotel could be a gold mine......CLEAN IT UP!

Memorial Day Stay
By JP AP, 5/28/08
Very biker friendly!!!! We rode through on our way to the rally in Gulfport, Miss. from Willis, Texas. This place allowed us to park our 4 Harley's on the sidewalk just to the right of the doorway. The valet watched our bikes like a hawk. It was awesome. He also recommended a great breakfast place: Orleans Cafe. The rooms were nice. Nicely decorated, clean, plenty of room and hot water in the a.m. Convenient to Harrah's and Bourbon Street. We'd stay again!!!

Oh, God
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/3/07
My sister and I stayed there the year before Katrina. The staff was nice, but pretty much took no responsibility for guests - and trust me, if the place is clean, we are pretty easy to please BUT...the room we checked into had ants and I don't mean a few. We bought a couple of slices of pie and set them on a small table while unpacking, turned around and there was an inch wide black trail of ants coming straight to them. We were informed by the man who came to spray that "pie does attract ants". With that many ants in that span of a few minutes, TOOTHPASTE would have attracted them. Then we played musical rooms moving to a windowless one behind the elevators. Got the suitcases in, went into the bathroom and found that the toilet had not been flushed and it was not pretty. Obviously, the bathroom had not been cleaned. We were good humored about it and switched again, no problem, these things happen, I guess. THEN the air conditioning went out in the middle of the night along with the water pressure. We were up filling the tub with water to be able to flush the toilets, sick to death from the heat. We asked if any of the other floors were cooled as the place was empty and were told we could come down to the lobby - in the middle of the night? Also, we were there for 2 nights and by that time I was covered with small red dots that itched like crazy. Thought it was an allergic reaction to something I ate. My sister had no hives at all until she forgot to get her own personal towel out of our car and used one from the hotel. She ended up broken out in a rash all over, too, so we knew it was the towels. Ended up using souvenir teeshirts we had bought to dry off with. When we left, we had a 10 hour drive home and I was exhausted and in tears checking out. They offered us breakfast because they hated for us to drive in that condition! They could have offered a refund, that would have been better because that whole portion of the trip was a disaster. You know, the staff was friendly enough, it's just that they didn't seem to feel responsible for their hotel. It was weird.

I will never go back!
By Li Hua, 4/19/07
I didn't have a pleasant stay at all. I made the online booking two weeks before arrival at the hotel. But when I arrived, they said no rooms were currently available. Then I was assigned a double bed room which was not the one I originally booked. They charged everyone for extra money for safety and communication regardless whether you will use them or not. And they changed the rate without notifying with me. The service was awful. What the cleaning staff did is just make the beds and change the towels. I will not stay in the same hotel again!!

A shame for new Orleans
By wolfgang, 11/27/06
I think this Hotel is one of the worst plases to stay at New orleans. Warm water ist only sometimes available. There are Rooms without window!! You can hear the elevator during the whole night, so you can be sure that there is no sleep possible and Housceeping ist starting at 7 with machines in Front of the rooms. So I will say, that in this hotel is no Spirit of the "new New-Orleans"

The Pelham
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/05
The Pelham Hotel in New Orleans was excellent in every category. Especially location. It is nestled in the heart of the French Quarter and within walking distance to practically everything in New Orleans. The price was outstanding, at about a hundred dollars a night, on a weekend.

Quiet retreat
By HOWARD, 8/27/05
This hotel exudes a quiet romance in it's interior design. The rooms are tastefully appointed with four poster beds, and exposed brick walls. It is tucked away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to walk to all attractions. A very nice getaway retreat priced attractively.

Ahhieee, we be gonna have a good time!
By Jen, 6/4/05
The Pelham is conveniently located to the French Quarter and the Business District. The staff are friendly and pleasant. When requests were made for additional service, everyone was helpful. The Restuarant in the Triangle of the hotel lobby area is well staffed and excellent portions of well planned menues are available. The rooms we stayed in were comfortable, although I know there are some rooms with no view...There are lots of entertaining travel spots to visit within walking distance. Street cars are available at a short 2 block walk and the night life is nearby and safe to travel to! My family are 280 year residents of New Orleans and they made the recommendation, so y'all come down and stay a spell at the Pelham!
