Royal Mulu Resort, Miri

If you want to stay inside a Malaysian Rainforest with all the conveniences of home, The Royal Mulu Resort is the place to go. You get all the comforts of home but not the environment of home. The landscaping consists of native rainforest plants. Rooms are far apart giving you lots of privacy. THe resort location is geographically interesting with huge limestone cliffs near some of the rooms. Animals and birds make your stay ecological interesting as I saw Provost squirrels(black with white stripe like skunks) from my balcony. Wild orchids and epiphytes everywhere. THe river is right next to the Resort allowing easy transportation to the world famous Mulu Caves. My highlight of the stay was sitting at the Bat Observatory in the Mulu National Park watching the bats trail out of the Cave for almost 90 minutes. I saw eagles effortlessly capturing and dining on the bats. So Mulu should be added to any eco-tourist must-see list.
