Maruba Resort Jungle Spa, Belize City

Not only the place is beautiful, but I was pampered and treated extremely well by the family who owns and runs the place. They were very accommodating and nice to me. I was picked-up directly in the office where I was working in Belize City, taken to the pharmacy as I needed to buy a couple of things, and driven to the resort. I had a great time chatting with Nicki (the owner who picked me up) on the way there. I was greeted by Melanie, his wife, and taken to my beautiful suite, where my suitcase was already waiting for me. I loved the amenities and the attention to detail: the hibiscus everywhere, the sandalwood incense burning in the room, the disposable flip-flops, the availability of DVDs, covered chairs/beds around the pool, a beautiful hookah room, and a dining area set in a tree-house; comfort in the middle of the jungle. I had a wonderful aromatherapy massage in the evening. The next day I went to one of the tours (Lamanai) and spent the day out. Upon my arrival I was greeted with a refreshing juice and my mud massage appointment had already been rescheduled, as I returned a bit later than anticipated. The mud massage was a wonderful experience, especially bathing in warm water to remove the mud under the stars. Food was great, in taste and presentation. There is Internet connection and an eclectic music collection in the reception/bar area. The staff is attentive, without being intrusive. I cannot wait to go back to Maruba, next time with my family.

We have visited Maruba several times in the past, and it was wonderful, but things must have changed since then. While the massage and meal were excellent, the food service itself was not good. In fact, we were given a separate bill for the bar and were told that we had to pay CASH for it. Later, when we got back to our hotel, they called Maruba, who could give no reasonable explanation for it. Meanwhile, our cash for that day was gone. We will not go back and are quite disappointed that this jungle spa has gotten so lackadaisical about their guests.

It was rainy when we arrived to Belize and it rained the first 4 days of our 5 nights at Maruba. Despite the rains we took a trip up a jungle river to Lamani. The rain held out, then on the return trip back to the resort it rained, hence it was an awesome rainforest experience. The hot mineral bath was perfect to warm the body from the rain. We did some spa treatment and enjoyed then under the sound of the rain. We didn't get a chance to do the famous mud massage, we'll have to come back for that one. The rooms were well designed and comfortable. No phones in rooms but they had dvd players and a selection of dvd's in the lounge. The service was very personalized and we had special dietary needs and we let them know and the staff made us look forward to every meal, even the meals on the tours. The rainy rainforest was a great experience but next time we will return so we can experience the jungle under the sun.

My wife and I stayed there for three days and it was absolutely wonderful. Rooms were cool looking, Food was great, staff was great and extremely knowledgeable and the customer service was EXCELLENT. Thanks Again.

This is a place that should be strictly for adults. There are lots of sexual innuendo in the place. My husband and I thought it was great, but I am glad that I didn't take my kids. DO the couples spa...best spa ever - and make sure you take your camera - its an adventure!

The rooms are unique - the dining room is incredible with wonderful food. The bar is a place to meet terrific people. The bar and dining room are in a large palapa that is also the reception with very creative furnishings - don't miss the decor in the restrooms. The spa is wonderful!

To all of our friends at Maruba - Michelle, Nikki, Melanie, Sanchez...etc. Ron & I want to thank you for another incredible visit. This was our third visit and every time they've top themselves. Our friends atayed at Maruba a year ago and highly recommended Maruba for our Honeymoon. We couldn't imagine a more relaxing start to our honeymoon week. we stayed before our wedding and it was the perfect place to get organized for our new life together. the tours, food and design is exceptional and we recommend it to our friends. we will return with our family.

This resort claims it's tribal chic, more like tribal geek! The only good thing about Maruba Jungle Spa is the website. Super tacky facilities, black lit dining room, bad food, expensive drinks, unprofessional service etc. The hotel is an hour away from ANYTHING so you're stranded and P.S. it's a man made jungle...so don't expect to see any jaguars or howler monkeys like it says on the website. The landscape architechture is well done and the spa services were good but other than that it's a pass. For 250-700$ a night you're better off to spend 100$/night and stay in a 5 star place on one of the islands in Belize instead.
