Great deal for your money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/14/09
The staff was very helpful and they did speak english. I heard there is new management. The location is excellent. My room was cleaned and the food was good. I stayed there for a week.

good location/clean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/7/06
Nice and clean, friendly help, walking distance to the center, and main city business districts, including banks, restaurants and famous Malecon. It;s worth the $40- or so dllrs. I will go back again !!

cheap and nasty
By William T, 9/13/06
The internet booking for this forgets to mention the 22% add on taxes they subsequently add, (12% taxes and 10% service charge) Thats not uncommon in the country BUT its hardly clear in their booking site. The rooms are sparse, poorly equipped, noisy and are NOT clean in the acceptable sense, they are ...for a 4th world country but not for 2nd world prices. The water is hit and miss ( see other previous review)and the services as advertised are really non existent ie mini bar = two bottle water, Tv with cable ( 90% spanish). In room safe ( doesnt work). Multi lingual... barely enough to ask your name and not enough to explain charges etc. As for location, it couldnt be better central and easy walking access to the city. Thats a BIG plus, also since last being in Guayaquil 2 years ago the area at night around this hotel is well lit, clean and is reltively safe to walk even in the early hours. Its not a place to stay unless under budget restrictions and does Not reflect the standards of BEST WESTERN anywhere else in the world. So if you are used to decent BW standrads you'll be sadly disappointed.

Barely adequate
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/13/06
This hotel has reasonable rates and is clean. That's about all I can say for it. The services were barely acceptable---most staff did not speak English, and some were obviously indifferent to requests and complaints. In our room on the 7th floor, there was NO hot water for the three days we were there and the water in the shower was just a trickle. HAd to go to a salon to get my hair washed. Repeated complaints to the reception desk did not resolve the problem nor did they offer to change our room. The room was clean but sparsely furnished and had a small TV and cold ceramic floors. The breakfast (included) was good, but they do not have enough wait staff and the bellhop was helping serve. After 3 days, we cut short our stay there and went to the Continental; more money but great service and much better accomodations.

roll your own dice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/13/05
The biggest thing is that they aren't multi-lingual. I had a hard time just getting the continetal breakfast. I had friends (spanish speaking) call the hotel looking for me and they were told that I wasn't there. Forget travelers checks and they charge for internet use. There were days the sheets only covered the top of the matterass and it only took 2 people 4-5 minutes to clean the room, you figure it!
