One of the very worst
The Parkwood Inn was a miserable experience from the moment we arrived till the moment we left. Everything was absolutely filthy and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Gummy sticky brown gunk all over the kitchen, and when I opened the oven, I found a greasy cookie sheet with moldy pork chops on it. I spent 2 days cleaning everything in the room. The toilet didn’t work, and it took 3 days for the maintenance guy to come try to fix it. He obviously didn’t know what he was doing. He didn’t even know how to use the snake. The toilet was NEVER fixed. We had to go elsewhere to use a bathroom for ‘more substantial’ needs. The internet connection didn't work more than half the time. The TV's plug in wire was jerry-rigged with tape and zip ties, and the bath tub didn't drain. Broken down furniture, no pots and pans, and the dishes they provided were thin plastic disposables. The coffee pot took 45 minutes to perk, there was no hot water in the bathroom sink... I could go on.... There were a couple good things about the room: It had a walk in closet that held most of our stuff, and the back deck was filthy, but it was nice to have. The Parkwood COULD be a really nice place. It just needs better management, maintenance, and housekeeping.
In most places a hotel guest would be given some compensation for any trouble they might have experienced, but not at the Parkwood. It wasn't offered, and when I asked the manager about it she replied "For what?" I was taken aback... I had spoken with the manager both in person and on the phone several times about the toilet issue and some of our other complaints, so she was well aware of the situation. I didn't see a positive future, as she continued to argue with me, so I gave up. I think if they had compensated us, even a little bit, I might not be writing this review, or at least I wouldn't tell as much, but I truly feel that this hotel lacks in so many ways, including customer service, that it deserves to be reported.
