Penn Hills Pocono Resort, Analomink

My husband and I went here years ago (2004 I think) and what was supposed to be a romantic weekend getaway became the joke of the year! When we arrived we were given our room # and we dropped off our luggage to our "Suite" and were shocked at what we found..shag carpet up the walls....Our heart shaped tub had a boat motor on it...and I am not kidding!! So we set off to explore the "resort" and were shocked at what we found...the indoor pool was not heated and the jacuzzis that we were so excited to use were both out of service..one was empty and the other one had what looked like feces floating in it. The "snack" shop that was supposed to be open wasnt..the game room was closed for "repairs" and it was like playing a game of "Frogger" to get across the street to the dining and bar area. So we go and get ready for our "romantic" dinner in the bar and dining area....what a joke..the happy hour was ok and we met some nice people and then we went to dinner and realized we had to sit at tables with the other guests...not alone as we thought...my crab cake dinner was so deep fried that I could not eat it.....the games were fun but after a few drinks and another :Frogger" game to get to the other side we went back to our room. The next morning we woke up to shower and realized that we had no "complimentary soap or shampoo...so we go to the gift shop and we find shampoo that is from the 80's there...and I do mean left over from the 80"s. The complimentary continental breakfast in the hotel lobby consisted of a box of doughnuts from the local gas station....needless to say we checked out and left as our weekend was ruined..we were compensated for half of our stay when I called to complain..I told them that their website was very decieving..she told me that they didnt say they were an updated resort on their website ..and I told her it that they didnt say they weren't either....very dissappointed!!!

I saw ads for honeymoon resorts in the Poconos in bridal magazines, and my fiancee did not like my first choice: New York City. We decided on Penn Hills in The Poconos and it was pretty good. One thing we were not fond of was that a photographer was snapping pics all the time and then putting them up and trying to sell them. The food was good, but it was not all you can eat, and I think some of the men would have preferred more than what was offered. All in all, it was fine in l970, even if the carpeted walls seemed a bit strange. Skiing, snowmobiling, ice scating, archery......I remember those activities fondly!

Me and my husband stood there in April of 2001 fdr our honeymoon. Needless to say by the time we got a decent room they put us in the V.I.P. room at like 9 p.m. If it wasn't for the great staff in the lounge and the entertainment, I would of been disappointed.

We honeymooned here 30 yrs ago - it was fabulous. (we did return once after our honeymoon) Couples from all over the country - activities all day, competitions, ie. newlywed games, swimming, games, waterfalls on the property, parties under the stars at night. (picture everything from a cruise ship, but in the beautiful Pocono mountains, actually the Poconos offered the 1st "all inclusive" resorts) We recently drove by Penn Hills and were shocked, we turned the car around to take a better look. We were so sad, it was in such disrepair ... honestly, we thought it was truly abandoned. I can't believe they are still accepting reservations. Perhaps the original owners are older and unable to maintain the property. I wish someone could buy it and reinvest ... unfortunetly, a developer will probably knock it down and redevelop it for houses or condos. It was once a beautiful 500 acre resort ... imagine ... so sad ... so many couples would still love to spend a romantic weekend away from the kids and the house ... but this isn't the place to stay anymore!

The place is very old and a bit run down but the service was very good and the food was great we did have a problem with the hot water presure the second night there but they upgraded us to a much bigger and better room overall a nice experiance We would go back for Sure! Marty Roller

It is truly sad to see what was once a nice place ,be allowed to go down hill... i wish they would re-invest and up-date the place jojo

We stayed at Penn Hills for a weekend and it was a very odd experience. The resort was basically deserted, there were very few guests around. The resort itself seemed to be suffering from a lot of neglect. It appeared that management was having a difficult time maintaining/updating the resort. A lot of things seemed to be in need of repairs or upgrades. Everything was extremely dated. All of the facilities that we saw on the resort were in varying states of disrepair. The outdoor pool had lots of leaves in it covering the bottom and the water level was about a foot lower than it should've been. The indoor pool had patches of peeling paint all over the bottom. The tennis and shuffleboard courts were cracked and had weeds growing up through them. The game room featured broken arcade games and the smell of stale smoke. On the positive side, our room was clean and the staff was nice. It was just sad that the resort was in need of so much work. After being there, it was obvious why there were so few other guests there. The place is pretty bad. I'd recommend staying somewhere else.

I wish I had read the reviews before I booked my honeymoon there! It was the most disgusting place I have ever stayed. I have stayed in some extremely nice hotels that were less expensive, too. If we hadn't been positive and adventurous people then we would have been totally devastated. Fortunately, the area is beautiful and fun to explore. I wonder if anyone has thought to make a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

My girlfriend and I were very excited about our weekend getaway. But what a letdown!! We selected what were supposed to be the best. First off, power was off for about 3 hours. Could not believe they don't have emergency back up power.When we finally made it to our room, what a disgusting and cheap looking place(It was booked for $630 for 2 nights!). we decided to leave next morning,but we left right away after finding bugs on the bed!!!. What a Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!

Penn Hill's!! I have two words for it .. LOVE IT.. i had the most wonderful time .. in the Jacuzzi.. the pool.. everything was just great about it... if i can live ther i WOULD!
