Description

The Richmond Hotel is a superior, first class facility located on the Atlantic Ocean and 9 miles from Miami International Airport. The hotel is in the heart of the historic Art Deco district. Perfectly situated for peace and relaxation, the Richmond is close enough for every convenience. The hotel, built in 1941, offers the most up to date amenities and services to its guests. This Art Deco style hotel was designed by famous Miami Beach architect L. Murray Dixon to be reminiscent of a great ocean liner. The ocean front location is ideal for all types of ocean/water sport activities, which are located directly behind the hotel on the 400 foot beach. The location is excellent, only three blocks from the Lincoln Road Mall, with its bistros and shops and, of course, close to the glitz and glamour of South Beach's clubs, boutiques and cafes.Guests can work out in the hotel's fitness center, swim in the outdoor pool or half moon spa pool, and then loll around on umbrella shaded chairs and loungers. Just past this area, guests will discover a private walkway leading to the beach. The hotel's rooftop also features a terrace and a solarium. The Richmond's Verandah Cafe overlooks the pool area and serves coffee, espresso, and Continental or Full American breakfasts. Although the hotel restaurant is not open for lunch and dinner, guests can find plenty of other dining options within walking distance. Room service available for breakfast and lunch.Guestrooms feature all white bedding, down comforters and blond oak furniture, along with touches such as red umbrellas, original bathroom tiles, 1940s reproduction clock radios, and Deco inspired floor lamps. Framed, enlarged prints of Miami Beach postcards, circa 1940, decorate the walls. Guests at the Richmond Hotel are a mix of singles, couples and small groups. Children and teens enjoy the swimming pool, sprawling lawn, and white sandy beach and Beachwalk, which stretches to the very end of Miami Beach.

Did the trick
By ,
The hotel was in a great location with just about everything within walking distance. The front desk staff was very helpful and the room was clean and neat. The room was small however, and there was no view whatsoever. If I didn't know I was in South Beach, I would have no idea because you really can't tell the weather from the room. There also is not much sun that shines on the pool so that was bogus. The bartender had kind of an attitude, almost like we were doing him a disservice by ordering. All in all, it was a good stay and the topless beach was a nice feature. I would recommend it if your looking to be in the heart of South Beach and party.

I would recommend to couple or girlfriend
By ,
The hotel was neat and clean, front-desk staff was helpful, however no room service. There is no view from the rooms. Location is perfect, within walking distance of open air mall, walking distance from many restaurants and clubs and Ocean Drive. I would go back again!

Great setting, plain guest rooms
By ,
They bill themselves as an "Art Deco masterpiece" but I wouldn't put the architecture in THAT league. The halls are long and dark and guest rooms small and completely lacking in view, owing to their deep but relatively narrow lot. The outdoor landscaping is beautiful, with a patio restaurant, pool, and a picturesque yard on the narrow lot. The beach access is great, and the location can hardly be beat if you want to be near the Deco district. It is an easy walk to Ocean drive, or the Lincoln Drive pedestrian mall. The restaurant has reasonable food and pricing. Valet parking is available at $25/day, but this is the sort of location where you can do better without a car.

Horrible
By ,
The only two positives were the cleanliness and Gus (concierge, bartender, etc) Rooms are matchbox like. No room service as advertised, food (when Avail) mediocre, staff lacks any kind of direction as proven when the fire alarm was set off at 7am and the guests were left standing on the front pavement for over an hour, and not a single employee was sent to speak with us. Maid service started before 7am with very LOUD maids in the halls. Thinnist walls I've ever encountered in any building. NOT worth the money at all! Disconcerting to see members of the staff handling many different jobs, like the owners don't want to pay for expertise in any one field.
