Everything about Novotel on Collins St. exudes world class. The main lobby is spacious and instantly communicates that you have arrived at the best hotel in town. The rooms are modern and spacious and have sharp decor that one would expect in a private penthouse. The raw silk bed cover was especially eye-catching. Since the hotel floors begin at a considerable height (approx 10th floor), all rooms have breathtaking views over Melbourne. My room had floor to ceiling windows and being on the 42nd floor the views over the Melbourne International Tennis center, Cricket Grounds and grand boulevards were such that I was tempted to "city-gaze" all night. The breakfast restaurant was equally well endowed with views over practically all of the Melbourne CBD. Food and Service were impeccable. What a start to the day, especially when on business !! The one draw-backof the whole place, albeit minor, was the very slow elevators. Internet costs were also very high, at the price of the rooms, one really should expect this service to be almost complementary, if not considerably cheaper. Do not let these minor criticisms deter you from an otherwise unforgettable stay at Novotel !
