MUSTY SMELL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/02/08
WE LOVED THE LOCATION, BEDS WERE NICE AND FIRM. BREAKFAST WAS GREAT. THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD WAS THE MUSTY SMELL IN THE ROOM. WHEN WE ARRIVED HOME THE NEXT DAY (6 HR DRIVE) AND STARTED TO UNPACK OUR CLOTHES SMELLED LIKE THE ROOM AND ALL OF OUR CLOTHES WERE DAMP. WE HAD TO WASH ALL CLOTHES - CLEAN AND DIRTY.

overpaid for the room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/06/07
The parking should be included for the price. The city staff in the parking structure was not too nice. The hotel was clean, although I thought I paid for a suite I got a king and a pull out all in the same small room. What was good was the visitor ctr being across the street and the sights were walking distance. The 3-11pm staff were great (Joanna and Casey)very helpful and willing to give advice.I think I would look for another place to stay if I ever go out that way.

Bad parking
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/04/07
We were there back in 5/26/05. The parking was awful. Our car was broken in twice and it was parked in the paid covered parking area.

Great Stay!
The Hampton Inn ads for their new beds and bedding are absolutely on the money! Very comfortable! Great sleeping! Sleeping comfort is a big deal for us! The courtyard and pool were beautiful as well as the lobby. The breakfast was good and cookies and lemonade were offered in the afternoon. This hotel was extremely clean and the staff was very courteous. From housekeeping to management! They went out of their way to make sure that we had all that we needed. The walk down Meeting St.into town was about 10 min. Hyman's Seafood is a must so we had no complaints about the walk. But if you take John St to King St you have plenty of options for eating and shopping. The weather was great for our stay but this walk could be a bit overwhelming during the peak summer heat. We will definately consider this hotel for another stay in Charleston!

Good Hotel at at Great Price
By JoeC, 03/06/06
This is not like any other Hampton Inn that I've stayed at before. This building (according to the bellman) was a converted burlap factory and then turned into a retirement home that eventully changed hads to what is now the Hilton chain. Very quaint and historic feel. It is right next door to the Charleston visitor center (where all the tours originate) and just across the street from the Charleston Historic Museum. Very good location. Throw in the free breakfast and coffe/tea available 24 hours, Wi-Fi internet access in your room...it is a very good place to stay.

Will definitely return!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/10/05
This hotel was not only spotless, but the staff was more than helpful and courteous. The location is excellent, breakfast was great, and the room was exceptionally clean! What more could you ask for! The sitting area was just beautiful with the Christmas tree and decorations, very warm and welcoming. Will be back!

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/25/05
There is only one thing that we was unpleasant and it was the parking, but everything else was perfect and we have stayed here many times.

Great Trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/05
Very conveniently located to many attractions. We did lots of walking because there was so much within just a few blocks or mile of the hotel. The rooms were nice and clean. The breakfast bar was better than most breakfast bars with multiple choices. There was pretty much something for everyone. The staff was very friendly. We were in Charleston with a school group and the hotel was very good with the group. I would definitely stay at this Hampton Inn again.

excellent hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/02/04
Although the hotel is not located right by the market, it is just 10 minutes to walk down to the market. It is a very good value. (charleston hotels are kind of pricey). Their employees are kind and seem to be happy to help you. My room was clean and the building is beautiful.
