Could be better

As a preface, this was our second choice as we usually stay next door at The Pacific Gardens Inn. Rosedale certainly has plenty of room to roam. Our suite had a second room with fireplace, couch, second TV, wet bar, fridge, micro-wave, desk. But, and this is a big "but", everything seems just a little "off". I believe our two-room suite used to actually be two separate rooms. Because of this, the bedroom is the room you find when opening the front door and the living room is in the back. Seems as if the bedroom should have been in the back of the suite. For all their windows the rooms still felt claustraphobic and just a little bit seedy. Little things were missing or needed attention; such as no corkscrew in an otherwise fully equipped kitchenette, no hooks to hang a bathrobe, towell rack was loose on the wall and seemed ready to fall at any time, hair dryer ditto, As mentioned above; fireplace was totally worthless, shower pressure was non-existant, no light bulb in the place was strong enough to read by, no pool or outdoor hot-tub. I was blown away by their attempt to gouge guests $2.00 to rent a video tape! C'mon! A whole list of phone charges, including a charge to RECEIVE a fax, had my head spinning. Continental breakfast was at best forgettable, we skipped it after the first day. Safety issue: no grab bar to get out of that great big Jacuzzi. I think, contrary to what other reviewers have said, that the rates are in line with other lodges and inns in the area. The location really is great for beachwalking and the general area is wonderfully quiet at night.
