Don't judge a book by it's cover!
I drove to Anchorage from the Peninsula, my wife and kids were flying in around 11 pm, I thought I was going to just drive back that night, well by the time I got to Anchorage, I only had an hr before they arrived, and I was tired, so I started looking for a hotel. I couldn't believe it, I drove everywhere, all the hotels with vacancy wanted 2-3 hundred a night. I couldn't believe it, I just needed a place for us to rest. I didn't bother looking downtown, from experience it's hard to find a place to eat down there. When you have kids, you need something close. So, I took Spenard, and saw Exec. Suites right next to McD's and across from village inn and wendy's. That's the location I needed. But, it didn't look like much from outside, so I looked at all the other hotels in that area, and same story, no vacancies or over priced. So, I went back to Exec. Suites cause the sign said vacancies, and it had a price on there sign of 67.00 a night. So, that made me worry too. I went in anyway, the counter staff was a little stand offish, but I asked about the rooms anyway. I told them I wanted to see a couple before I decide. The lady didn't like that, but gave in to my request anyway. So, a guy came in and took me to the back part of the hotel, and showed me two different kinds of rooms, one with a futon in the living room area, another with a queen bed in the living area. I chose the room with the two queen beds, and honestly, I was happy, the rooms were clean, they smelled good, they had a full kitchen, walk in closet, large master bedroom, box fan, and a large bathroom. It ended up costing me about 80.00 I was happy, with the room, my wife and kids were happy, and it was comfortable. The only thing was it does not offer in room movies which, with kids it's easier to entertain when they offer movies, but...it was perfect for what we needed.
