All Is NOT What It Appears to Be...

My boyfriend & I stayed at the Westin this past weekend for one night to celebrate my birthday. Although the hotel is gorgeous, I was a bit disappointed by a few things. First was the parking cost, 23 dollars per night to valet & 18 per night to park in the garage connected to the hotel (which is very confusing to find the entrance & there are no signs directing guest to park in that particular garage if they are not valeting..) The front desk clerks were very pleasant but once they get you're credit card in hand- beware. When I was checking in for a room I paid for in full in advance, the clerk almost charged me again for the room because he did not realize I had already paid for it. Then with no apprehension he charges me a $75 "incidental fee" which he states is just in case I charge anything which translated to me as just in case we broke anything. He alerted us to the fact that there was a snack bar and wet bar in the room which were both weighted so if we touch anything we would be charged for it. A little ridiculous if you ask me seeing that the snack bar is on the dresser and snacks could very easily be accidently knocked over and then you would be charged?!
After checking in, we walked through the beautiful lobby and caught the elevator. We pressed our floor which was 9 not only did the number not light up but the elevator did not move. After a good 2 minutes we came to realize there was a card swiper on the other side of the elevator in which we have to swipe our room key to use the elevator (no one told us this..) Once we arrived in our room we were greeted by a pleasant odor of wood and paint (assuming this is due to the fact we were in the newest tower). Overall the room was nice, decent size, sleek flatscreen tv & a wonderful view of the city skyline along with the hotels front entrance. I loved the design of the bathroom, the marble countertop and the mirror along with our King size heavenly bed was to die for, never have I slept on a bed so comfortable. First issue we had with the room was the connecting door to the room on the left of us. Although ours was securely shut the guest in the room next to us must opened theirs (just as we did out of curiousity) and a major problem closing it back. They kept slamming and banging the door for a good 30 minutes then finally they got it to shut. (Tip: you have to lift and push). One other thing to point out is one of the towels in our room had a disgusting reddish brown stain on it. Once this was discovered we inspected the other towels to find that was the only one like that. My boyfriend & I both forgot our cell phone chargers so our cell phones died by 8pm that night. Remembering the front desk clerk had told us to feel free to use the room phones, we decided to use the phone to make a few brief calls (all under 3minutes- assuming they wouldnt be free). We had no idea what we were in for-- HUGE MISTAKE.
When we checked out, I was given a $70 room bill acquired from using the room phone. One call to Mass for 1 minute was 9.45! An RI call for 2 minutes was 8.57! We were even charged for mistakenly dialing numbers without pressing the 9 first. They even charged us to call them, @ the front desk- 1.40! And they taxed each call! The front desk clerk was very quick to deduct the 70 from the already 75 fee "incidental fee" they had charged me at check-in without ever asking me how I would like to pay for the bill (which I ended up paying cash & still being minus 75 until they credited it back to me in the upcoming 2-3 days). This hotel was not what it was made out to be. You think you're getting a great deal on a wonderful room and you're actually not if you get a prepaid room they charge another 75 at check-in, you've got to pay for parking and everything they offer to you which seems to be complimentary is actually available but at a "nominal fee" in which the front desk is more than happy to charge you for.
