Super 8 Baltimore Essex Area, Baltimore

I have stayed at many super 8's nationwide. This was probably the worst. Had to change rooms 3 times, once because someone was in the room already!! Didn't feel safe, but was told the police station is just around the corner. Finally got a room on the 3rd floor and wasn't too bad.

The staff lost my reservation, attempted to charge me more than the initial rate, attempted to ignore my military rate when I asked to use it, tried to give me a larger room than I wanted or needed so as to charge me more, and when I wanted a lower cost room they inferred I didn't have enough money to cover the cost of the stay. After attempting to resolve the situation, even offering to pay in cash, the manager again tried charging me a higher rate than I had agreed to and I turned to leave. At this point as I left he insulted me when all I had wanted to was leave after being kept waiting for over an hour and a half.

When we first got there we had to wait to check in because the woman at the front desk was on a smoke break. There was a mouse that ran between the beds. The woman at the front desk asked what we wanted her to do about it. It is just a horrible place and isn't worth the money to stay here. Plus the elevator inspection is out of date by a year!

It is located next to several shopping centers. From outside, it looks ugly. Inside, it has been renovated recently and with taste. For a hotel of this category, it looks really good and clean. Service ranges from poor (totally grouchy cleaning lady) to good. Price: there are coupons for this hotel (internet and airport) so you don' t have to pay full price. Security seems to be a concern in the area. There is a safe in each room but it is quite small. Even if you can't use it, you have to pay the safe fee. Maintenance: fridges, microwaves, heating... are not maintained properly. This can substantially affect your stay if you are there for several days. The manager always tells you that he is going to fix the problem but he doesn' t. Even if he moves you to another room, you find out that in the new room another appliance is broken if not several...This can last 10 days.
