It was a nice place at one time!
By JAY, 07/05/08
I had to stay here as part of a convention and was disappointed to find that they charge you for everything. Your car will be valet parked whether you want it to be or not ($16.00 per day). I was charged $1.00 for each of the two phone calls I made to the front desk. I had to haggle to make it go away. Internet is $10.00 a day. No eating establishments within a 1/4 of a mile. Your only alternative is to eat at the hotel which is way overpriced (Evian bottled water $4.00). The room appeared nice, but the bed linens were filthy - whatever you do, don't hold them up to the light, you'll be disgusted. When you are paying $150.00 per night you should expect better.

Decent hotel if you want to be bored
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/17/08
We booked the Omni downtown thinking downtown LA would be similar to other downtown areas in other major cities in the US. However, this could not be further from the truth. Downtown, for those visiting LA for vacation purposes, is for the most part extremely boring. Anything you might want to do is in the coastal cities, Hollywood, or several other places in the city where other hotels would be more useful. The pictures were fairly representative of the hotel. We expected slightly more from the room, but we have no complaints with what we got. The food at this place is seriously lacking. Since there are no readily available places to eat downtown (walking distance) we were forced to eat the hotel food most of the time, and it was just awful. The room service is a little slow, and the first night, they brought me a cold dinner. The second night, it was warm, but just tasted bad. The hotel is quite accessible from the 110 connector and with a garmin, we found it right away. The valet staff is very helpful. Upon our departure, the front desk confused the fact that we had prepaid for our visit, and tried to insist that we pay (again) for our visit. It took a solid 15-20 minutes to get the facts straight, before we were able to get to our next destination.

Worth every penny
By michele, 05/21/07
Comfy beds, great bath, nice gym. Our room overlooked the water garden at California Plaza. The Museum of Contemporary Art was just next door. The museum's admission is only $8. We snacked on a panini from Starbuck's then headed over to MOCA. Back to the hotel for a quick nap then to the gym. All the equipment is new and there's a basket of fresh fruit and crisp lemon-infused water upon arrival. It was empty which was a nice change from the sweaty gym we belong to at home. After walking and working out, we had quite an appetite, but the bar menu didn't seem extensive enough so I talked my husband into going to the restaurant Noe. We were greeted by a tall somewhat snobby gentleman who informed us the restaurant was preparing for a private party, but that we could order from the menu in the lounge. This suited us both more than we could've dreamed. I ordered the sea scallops and my husband ordered some wine. Three scallops sat atop a paste of roasted eggplant. Each were topped with a small slice of roma tomato and each bite was exquisite. After a couple glasses of wine, we ordered teh lobster which sat atop three oversized raviolis, which were covered in a lemon tapioca. Again, two thumbs up (though in my opinion, it could've used something in the savory family to cut through the sweet nature of the pasta, tapioca and lobster). After another drink, our appetite returned and we ordered a side of bread and olive oil. The bread wasn't the best I'd ever had but it hit the spot and held the buzz at bay. We spoke a while to the piano guy about music, and though he was trying to coax me to sing, I didn't feel it was appropriate. We bought him a drink and downed another couple of our own. We spent about 4 hours there and had a great time. The onset of hiccups was our cue to head up to the room. To go, we ordered a burger and fries. We split the meal and manged in our jammies. Tasty, but the bun was too big and maybe taken from the day old basket. The fries were extra yummy. The bed is draped with fluffy white comforters and numerous pillows. It's the best sleep I've had in a while. We drank Starbuck's while overlooking the garden, then it was back to the gym for a quick workout and time to check out. The staff was friendly and the transaction swift. The only problem was trying to use mapquest directions to find the place. Be aware of the tunnels that run through the area. Also, something I learned from another reviewer is that it's cheaper to park in the neighboring lot that sits behind the hotel, $6 compared to $24 valet at the hotel. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

Don't waste your money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/01/07
Our firm booked several suites in this hotel months in advance of our stay. Reservations and requests were re-confirmed many times prior to our stay, yet absolutely nothing was done as requested. Requested a non-smoking room, got a smoking room, requested a dedicated phone line, no phone line, requested dsl for business purposes none was provided, elevators didn't work, room keys didn't work, rooms and halls were duty and to add to it all a very rude manager named Mary refused to help. Our firm dropped six figures there and we won't be back. We will just stay down the road. Maybe they will value our business.

Good Location for Disney Concert Hall
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/19/06
This is a nice 4 star hotel within walking distance to Disney Concert Hall. Perfect for that. Centered at California Plaza which is a busy center during the weekday and closed down on the weekend.

Probably the Best Hotel in Downtown
By PM, 02/11/06
Most people would head over to the Biltmore, Boneventure or the Marriott because they have more name recognition. However, I think that the Omni is MUCH, MUCH BETTER! The hotel is much newer and the service is great. I love Noe Resturant on the 3rd floor. You must go... even if you're not staying at the hotel.
