8 reviews for Bordeaux House, Yountville
Recent Visit
By Jody S, 05/14/09
Cannot understand how you have reviews dating back so far.On 2 recent visits the last being Dec 2009 Ourselves and another couple stayed here and had a delightful time. Whilst the owner Jean may strike some as slightly eccentric she was in all respects attentive, and accommodating and never acted in a manner displayed here ,Breakfast while not luxurious was filling and coffee was good and hot. The Bordeaux House represents outstanding value for accommodations and access to town (right next door to French Laundry) at a price that is reasonable compared to other places in Yountville and is great value for money.

Bad place in a good location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/02/08
The woman who runs this inn is horrible. The rooms are ugly and it looks like the building is going to fall down. We were supposed to stay for 2 nights, but after the very rude service (within the first hour of our stay), we found another place to go.

Enjoyed our stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/09/07
We traveled with another couple and had 2 rooms for 2 nights. We all thought the rooms were very comfortable and were a good value. The breakfast each day was very good with hot egg dishes, fresh fruit and juice, yogurt, granola, cereal, bagels, milk and coffee. The location is excellent and virtually all of the dining and shopping is within easy walking distance. We would definitely go back.

How does it stay in Business??
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/26/06
The service was awful. The room smelled of mildew and the furnishing were awful. The staff was not cheerful. Common areas were uncomfortable and the food was wretched. We stayed one night (out of 5) and then quickly found another place. As far as a romantic or restful bed-and-breakfast goes, this is horrible. There are many better choices in the area. You're better off at a ramda inn or motel 6. At least then you know what you're in for.

Find another place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/07/06
The Bordeaux House should be condemned. Only my guess is that once the demolishion crew got there, the androgynous inn-keeper would suddenly transform into mothra and breath fire all over Yountville. In all honesty and fairness, I thought that this little bed 'n breakfast was actually nice as far as the room went, walking distance to restaurants, and quite comfortable. But the rude innkeeper we dealt with was like the eggs she served, bitter and cold. We tried to cancel (five days in advance) and were told that we could only be refunded (?) if first she rented out all the other rooms. While this was unlikely to happen, we said alright and were pleasantly surprised by an email that confirmed our room was able to be canceled... Oh it was canceled alright, and we were charged in full 3 days prior to arrival -- forget our agreement. Then, when we decided to bite the bullet, we told Mothra over the phone that we would keep the reservation... and I was put on hold for a while where I got the definite impression that she tried to rent out our room twice in hopes that we would not show. When we did show and wanted to know why our credit card had already been charged before we got there (thank you citibank), all she could say is "this conversation is over." Way to think on your feet lady. Bottom line, the service killed the place, and the breakfast didn't help.

I should have read the previous reviews!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/07/05
The location is great, Yountville is such a cute town. But find another place to stay. Inn keeper rude, and serves outdated and unappetizing food. Milk was over 2 weeks outdated, sour and chunky. When I pointed this out, she argued with me, saying it was fine last night. Then I told her the date shows that it had expired 2 1/2 weeks ago. She wasn't even sorry. Granola was in a jar from the fridge with condensation on it. I couldn't eat anything there, I walked down the street and found somewhere else to eat. Across the street there is another b&b, I looked to see what they served, it was a lavish buffet breakfast! I got their brochure for next time! I should add, the inn keeper left the premises right after I arrived, around 4 pm, and asked if I really wanted the full breakfast, she called it. She really wasn't too interested in being there, or doing the breakfast. The full breakfast consisted of the granola and a small bowl of chopped apples. The room didn't feel safe. The room opens to the outside, and there is just a little lock on the handle, like you would have on a bathroom door, there is no privacy lock. Check out other places...

The place is awful!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/15/04
We stayed there about 2 years ago with some friends. We had 3 rooms. Every room was ugly and the breakfast we were served was awful. The woman who ran the Inn had no personality and on occasion, was rude. We go to Napa about twice a year and I would never stay there again!

Disgusted with the Bordeaux House
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/15/04
We had reservations at the Bordeaux House and arrived at 3:45. After they took our money, we were informed that our rooom was not ready. After we wasted an hour in town, we returned, shocked to see workers carring a toilet up to our room, the carpet was tossed out the door and the bed laid on the sidewalk. When we inquired again about our room, we were told it was almost ready. So we went to dinner, returning at 7:30 to find out that the room was still not ready.

Instead of being honest that the room was unavailable or helpful to find another place to stay, the staff continued to lie (after taking our money) and were completely unresponsive or accountable for their actions. There only effort, after lieing about the status of the room for 4 hours was to offer our money back, leaving us without a room in Napa Valley on a holiday weekend. Don't stay here, unless you love to be mistreated and abused. Its not that nice anyway, certainly not worth $150 plus a night.
