Rodeway Inn Mankato, Mankato

I had to stay there, because there were no other hotels under $150 available for that weekend. The hotel is in a poor condition. Smell of smoking is everywhere even though it seems to be a no smoking hotel now. Air from air conditioner smelled bad. Traces of mold in the bathroom. Stairs to the second floor sounded like they could crash at any time. Very dark room. Don't stay there if you have other options.

This motel hands down had the worst service we have ever had staying in hotels/motels for 25 years. Got to the motel and tried to check in but took 20 minutes because there was only 1 person at the front desk and the 1 person in front of us was asking about things not even related to their stay. The common area where continental breakfast was served looked disheveled and unkept like someone had rummaged through the drawers and didn't bother closing them. Some of the doors in the main hall have paint peeling off the outside of the doors which makes for a very bad first impression when walking down the hall. Our room had no microwave or alarm clock which were supposed to be standard and had no working Wi-Fi which was suppose to be standard also. Tried to call front desk but phone rang off the hook and no one bothered to pick up the phone so I had to go down there in person. We have never stayed in a motel where phone calls are ignored by the front desk. Even though the owner's wife was now at the front desk too, she just stood there doing nothing so I had to stand in line another 20 minutes just to ask about our missing micro behind a pastor asking the motel if they could put up a young man for a week for free. They said there were no microwave and alarm clock because they "burned up", whatever that means! Hideous 70's bedspreads and the mattresses were filthy and the bath mirror was not cleaned. Definitely should be rated a 1 star motel if even that! Save yourself frustration and aggravation and DO NOT STAY HERE!

The location is good for Caswell Fields where softball tournaments are held. Good restaurants are located close to the motel. But the facility is showing its age with some rooms needing repairs.
