Rough start smoothed by staff

First let me say that the hotel was lovely and the service was top-notch. The front desk staff was very helpful, and addressed our concerns immediately. Unfortunately, we had concerns that needed to be addressed as soon as we checked.
Now I understand that the hotel is not responsible for guests who do not follow the rules, but our "non-smoking" room was so smokey that my eyes burned. Also, there were cigarette ashed in the nighttable drawer. Also, someone had spilled something red & sticky in the drawer as well. The other drawers were dirty, too. And the sheets looked like they had been slept in. Finally, I am allergic to feather pillows, so I had requested foam pillows when I made my reservation online.
I called the front desk, they immediately responded. We were moved into another room and given the extra pillows. The new room was much cleaner (and it was right next door!)
Once our room changed, our whole attitude changed. It ended up being a great trip. The pool was great, in a beautiful room. The breakfast was delicious. And most of all, the staff was so helpful & courteous. Despite the rough start, I would recommend this hotel & would stay here again.
