Baymont Inn and Suites Champaign, Champaign

Was in Champaign on business and stayed here for 1 week. The breakfast, rooms and cleanliness were all acceptable. This would not be my first choice in the area, but for what I needed it was okay. Staff was reasonably friendly, but I noted no great efforts to go out of their way.

Location is good, very close to Univ. of Illinois campus, which was the reason for my visit to the area. Got the AAA rate of $95 per night for 4-person room, thought it was a good rate, but room was very standard at best. Pillows were very flat. Cable t.v. was very poor reception and had a blue tint. Enjoyed having mini-fridge in room to store some food and drinks for our football game tailgate. Staff was pretty nice, although I encountered a mild problem when I tried to cancel one night of my stay b/c they said they had a 2-night minimum for football weekends. However, they ended up cancelling it w/o a charge anyway. Close to lots of chain restaurants and Meijer grocery store. Breakfast was decent, they had a waffle iron. Surprised that they still used the VingCard room keys...was worried I'd snap it in half due to its frailty.

It was nasty and the customer service stunck. The halls smelled bad like cigarette smoke and it wasn't that tidy. I will never come back here again.

I MADE A RESERVATION FOR TWO BEDS OVER THE PHONE AND PAID FOR IT THEY TRIED TO GIVE ME A SINGLE BED ROOM ,AND THEY SAID THEY MADE A MISTAKE ,THERE WAS NO ROOM TO BE FOUND AT 9 PM SO WE HAD TO DRIVE 40 MILES TO FIND A ROOM POOR WAY TO RUN A HOTEL,I WOULD SAY THEY SOLD MY ROOM FOR MORE$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
