Great veiw overlooking bay

Likes - Strong Security. I am from the USA. Americans are advised not to go to Phils at all, and advised strongly about going to the Island of Mindinao, where Cagayan De Oro is located. Guards inspect Taxis far from actual hotel entrance. No non-hotel loiterers are allowed if not accompanied by a hotel occupant.
Good strong aircon, rooms clean, showers hot, great veiw from deluxe rooms. Rooms show a little wear. complimentary Breakfast buffet good, pool and pool action and setting great, good business services, Nice New Years celebration with live singer and buffet for about 260pp per person.
Dislikes - When I walked in off the street I paid 1900pp for standard suite but had option of Deluxe for 2200pp. Intended to stay only one night but ferry and planes all full so stayed next night in Deluxe for 2200(Dec 31, 2006) Then, ferries and planes full again for evening of Jan 1, 2007 manager recognized me as foreignor and insisted 4600pp (no the hotel was not full, nor high season - just that I was foreignor - standard philippine business practice) Yes, the staff can be aloof but then we foreignors often speak different languages which can make easy going filipinos "shy" and we can be arrogant, condescending jerks too, so I forgive what some may call there aloofness. If you can get the local rate this is an extremely good value, if you get the foreignor rate it is an ok value.
Advice - If you can check in person, you can get the same rooms half price if you insist. But in high season the room may be full. Better yet, have a local freind make the reservations for you.
