Gran Paradiso Hotel, Sorrento

It is out of the way...the desk was not helpful and all acted like we owed them. We are not fussy. Would not recommend this place. They seem not to care we were even there. I don't want to waste my typing on this place!!!!!! The maid was the warmest person we met at the hotel and had the best SMILE!!!!

before arriving at the hotel,we looked at comments on the internet and dare say we were having second thoughts,how wrong could we have been by reading what others have wrote. the whole 2weeks did not last long enough,the hotel,food,view,generally the whole lot fantastic. Some may not have had a view from their room but if you had paid for a sea view you may well have got it,but it did say in broucher that some rooms over look the hill,if you had no view from your room the view from the terrace made up for it,the shuttle bus was handy and used many times,the pool lovely and refreshing(could have been cleaned a few more times)table tennis for kid,younge and old only one down side NO SNOOKER BALLS it would have been great for my sons to have had a few games each night.

Loved: superb staff (Bruno, Raffaele, Giuseppe, Elio always friendly, cheerful, gracious and accomodating!); location (beautiful panorama of Sorrento, the Bay of Naples and Vesuvio without the noise and congestion of traffic right outside your door); delicious meals (wonderfully prepared and served); cleanliness (thank you to the excellent cleaning staff); my room up-grade was fabulous, and my afternoon cappuccino was the best! I was treated like a princess, and can't wait to go back!

We have just returned from a week in Sorrento where we stayed at this lovely hotel! Like many others we read some reviews before we went and can't share any bad experiences. The hotel was a lovely base from which to explore Sorrento and the surrounding area. Not really impressed with Sorrento itself, dirty and noisy with loads of graffitti!! However, the hotel was a bus ride from Sorrento and had an amazing view over the bay of Naples and towards Vesuvius. Breathtaking!! The hotel was very clean!! It was peaceful and the service was very good. Guiseppe and his team made you welcome in the lovely dining room and the service was excellent. Food good on the whole! Nothing spectacular but generally enjoyable. I would have enjoyed a little more authentic Italian fare! The bar service outside by the pool during the day was also good as was the food! I would recommend this hotel particulary if you want to visit Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius and the lovely island of Capri. After a busy day sightseeing it is the perfect place to have a drink, relax and recharge your batteries.
