i do have a couple of complaints:
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/31/10
- the room is immaculate with plumped-up pillows (3 per each of the 2 queen beds)
- the coffeemaker is generously stocked, as was the bathroom
- the carpet is mint condition
- with the exception of one, each of the staff members and guests i have encountered have smiled or had a welcoming expression on their faces. the one exception was a young man sweeping the lobby who blushed and ducked his head when i said "good morning".
- they treat my 3-1/2yr old daughter like a princess and when my older daughter locked herself out of her apartment, they let her stay the night for free (i was going to pay but the front desk said since it was already nearly 3am and as long as it was just the one night, no problem)
- when i mentioned to the front desk this morning that the continental breakfast was out of coffee and bowls, she gasped and hopped to it: five minutes later, i had a steaming fresh cup of coffee and not only were the bowls restocked, she'd topped up everything else even though breakfast was ending in about 10minutes.
- the common areas (stairwells and hallways) are all clean and fresh-smelling - something light and citrusy that totally does not aggravate my or my daughter's allergies to chemical fumes.
- the chinese restaurant down on the ground level has been recommended to me by a local and the giggling tomato across the road is *amazing* (although service was a bit slow, the food was well worth the wait).
- the bathroom is clean and fresh - the fixtures look brand new. i have one note of complaint: when the grout was fixed (looks like the taps and showerhead were recently replaced with an upgrade - the showerhead has several settings, including massage), the grout was not *perfectly* matched. oh - and there's a hairline crack running up the corner.
- the TV is a generously sized flatscreen, the remote works perfectly fine, but i must admit that i'm spoiled by the infinite number of channels i get on my home satellite; the hotel provides basic cable package plus pay-per choices that include choices for family and children, not just the adults.
- the parking lot out front IS totally bogus - such a stupid layout and no room to maneouvre - but the one out back seems fine to me.
- there are NO STRIP CLUBS here and although i've heard about hordes of nasty hookers trolling around from a lot of ppl (and i used to live here, back in the infamous "Rosetown Inn" and "Hotel Brampton" days, so i *know* what it used to be like!), i've not seen one single character i could point to and say "that's a hooker". there are no people lingering and loitering about - i felt perfectly safe and comfortable walking through the back parking lot with my preschooler. sorry, guys - better luck in Toronto!
- i have not seen one hint of a bedbug and i fail to see how the other reviewer didn't notice any bites until after he'd left. bedbugs leave HOLES in your skin and they *hurt* when they bite. they're the size of small watermelon seeds. you wait up with blood spots all over the linen - it's not something you wouldn't notice immediately. clearly the person was suffering from crabs or lice and decided to blame the hotel instead.
