the old Rosetown is now the Days Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/15/11
I wouldnt stay there again as we found bed bugs when we checked the matress before we even sat down to make sure there werent any and we found two of them immediately and managed to catch one and brought it to the manager and demanded our money back.the other person saying they are the size of watermellon seeds doesnt know what they are talking about i talked to an exterminator and he told me full grown they are about 1- 8th that size and when they are young they are very small and transparent and are quite difficiult to spot.

i do have a couple of complaints:
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/31/10
- the room is immaculate with plumped-up pillows (3 per each of the 2 queen beds) - the coffeemaker is generously stocked, as was the bathroom - the carpet is mint condition - with the exception of one, each of the staff members and guests i have encountered have smiled or had a welcoming expression on their faces. the one exception was a young man sweeping the lobby who blushed and ducked his head when i said "good morning". - they treat my 3-1/2yr old daughter like a princess and when my older daughter locked herself out of her apartment, they let her stay the night for free (i was going to pay but the front desk said since it was already nearly 3am and as long as it was just the one night, no problem) - when i mentioned to the front desk this morning that the continental breakfast was out of coffee and bowls, she gasped and hopped to it: five minutes later, i had a steaming fresh cup of coffee and not only were the bowls restocked, she'd topped up everything else even though breakfast was ending in about 10minutes. - the common areas (stairwells and hallways) are all clean and fresh-smelling - something light and citrusy that totally does not aggravate my or my daughter's allergies to chemical fumes. - the chinese restaurant down on the ground level has been recommended to me by a local and the giggling tomato across the road is *amazing* (although service was a bit slow, the food was well worth the wait). - the bathroom is clean and fresh - the fixtures look brand new. i have one note of complaint: when the grout was fixed (looks like the taps and showerhead were recently replaced with an upgrade - the showerhead has several settings, including massage), the grout was not *perfectly* matched. oh - and there's a hairline crack running up the corner. - the TV is a generously sized flatscreen, the remote works perfectly fine, but i must admit that i'm spoiled by the infinite number of channels i get on my home satellite; the hotel provides basic cable package plus pay-per choices that include choices for family and children, not just the adults. - the parking lot out front IS totally bogus - such a stupid layout and no room to maneouvre - but the one out back seems fine to me. - there are NO STRIP CLUBS here and although i've heard about hordes of nasty hookers trolling around from a lot of ppl (and i used to live here, back in the infamous "Rosetown Inn" and "Hotel Brampton" days, so i *know* what it used to be like!), i've not seen one single character i could point to and say "that's a hooker". there are no people lingering and loitering about - i felt perfectly safe and comfortable walking through the back parking lot with my preschooler. sorry, guys - better luck in Toronto! - i have not seen one hint of a bedbug and i fail to see how the other reviewer didn't notice any bites until after he'd left. bedbugs leave HOLES in your skin and they *hurt* when they bite. they're the size of small watermelon seeds. you wait up with blood spots all over the linen - it's not something you wouldn't notice immediately. clearly the person was suffering from crabs or lice and decided to blame the hotel instead.

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/31/09
I am just back from this hotel, I will never stay at this hotel again. It was dirty, staff very unfriendly. At check out the desk clerk that was on never asked how my stay was. The first night there was a fight going on and I could not sleep, no one came up to the floor to see what was going on. The parking area was terrible with so many potholes. There was no frig, clock radio or coffee maker. The remote we had never worked. Their ads say home away from home, that's if home is hell. My family and myself will not stay there again and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, if my worst enemy.

Lowest price I could find - got my first bed bug bites
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/11/07
I read reviews of this hotel before booking a reservation with them directly on the phone, for two nights. People only said good things about the hotel. Everybody was very friendly, and the price was really right. They even have slow in-room WiFi. I wondered why it was so cheap, but I figured some hotel had to be the lowest. Right? I found it fairly clean inside the room, but the stuff was old and beaten up - about like a Motel 6 (which I like). There was dirt and hair under the sink in the bathroom (which I don't like). I checked under the mattress etc. for bed bugs as instructed on TV news shows I'd seen. I didn't find anything, but then I've never seen a bed bug. I couldn't believe what I saw when I pulled back the drapes. 100% filth. The windows on the floor I was on had never been washed. Apparently there is a small roof outside the window, with some air conditioners, pipes etc. on it. REALLY disgusting. The labels were missing from the heater/air conditioner buttons, but I found how to turn it on/up by trial and error. On the second day, I came back to find the door to the adjoining room totally unlocked and open - with all my stuff in my room. I guess I'm lucky I had anything left. Nothing was missing. I didn't notice the 20 or so bites on my torso until after I left. I had never had a bed bug bite before. I guess we all think it will never happen to us? They didn't itch or sting at all. Then when I scratched one the first time, it really itched. It took about a month for the bites to almost go away. In that month, I've been hoping I didn't bring bed bugs home in my stuff. Pretty scary. In digging around the Internet, it seems nearly impossible to get rid of bed bugs from a building like that. I'm sure the hotel owners don't want them, and I'm sure some guest brought them in, but I sure as heck don't want them! It seems like since DDT was outlawed (I guess it must have been outlawed in Canada as well as the US), bed bugs are showing up at all kinds of hotels - expensive and cheap.

Wonderful Howard Johnson Brampton
By yoni bornstein, 6/7/06
I was in toronto with my wife and son for a weekend visit, and I did not want to pay $200 or more to stay in downtown toronto so I stayed @ the HOJO in Brampton and I was very pleased with the experience. Absolutley the best value and location in the Greater toronto area, the cleanliness was 10 out of 10, the staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great and I took advantage of there fitness facility and free wireless internet. Never in my life seen hotel rooms that roomy not even 5 star luxury hotel. CANT BEAT THE VALUE !!!!!! will recommend to anyone !!!!!

I LOve Howard Johnson Hotels ,BUT!
By befuddled, 8/11/05
I have lived near this establishment for a few years, though had never stayed there when it was the Rosetown Inn, do to it's very unsavory reputation. But when Howard Johnsons put their name to it I expected it would now be an excellent place to stay. I wanted my Dad in law to have a nice room as he was going to be in town for family events. I had several months to make a reservation, so I called over a six week period for the special rates they advertise on the building. And everytime I called these rooms were not available, but a more expensive one was there if I wished I wonder if they exist at all as I gave up and found him a wonderful room at the monticarlo/cristo?. Anyways it looks nice in the lobby, but the manager is very rude and unprofessional, and I will never allow anyone I know to stay there ever. Howard Johnson should take a long hard look at this establishment that has their name , I wish I had something good to say here but I don't, Dee-brampton

Horrible Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/04
This hotel is the Express Inn and Suites in Brampton, Ontario. This was by far my worst hotel stay ever! The 3 front desk people were extremely rude. I don't think a single one of them even smiled. In fact, the woman who checked me in made rude comments about me to the security guard, thinking I couldn't hear her! When I made my reservation over the phone, the lady I was talking to was not helpful and obviously didn't know about the rooms are rates. The elevator during my stay was very dirty and at 9 AM (2 hrs before checkout), a cleaning lady let herself into my room without knocking, waking me up. I thought HoJo was supposed to have a good reputation but I'm NEVER going back there and I suggest no one else does either.
